This is really scarey. It is so dry, it is a tender box out there. My home is close to that fire. It made me think, "what do I do first if someone comes and says evacuate?" What if you have animals and cannot evacuate? What do you grab first from the house and take with you?
....and Paul Wood who was helping to fight the fire got word that his father passed away Saturday night. Double tragedy for this family, though don't think the fire got onto the Wood ranch, though it was very close to it.....so many people helped battle this blaze - just shows what can be accomplished when people cooperate in a crisis situation such as that.
Tinder box. A tender box is something else entirely, trust me.
Yup......we knew the fire was bad. Here in Trophy Club, the smoke was thick--had a neighbor come outside to see if HER house was on fire?! We heard it was 50 miles north of Denton County, so it was eerie to see the repercussions fogging up the air where we were. So sad and devastating.
BTW, just for your information.... Traci Weaver, the Forest Service person quoted in the Star-Telegram story, is the former Traci Bowen of the Messenger...
