President Bush continues to take a grilling over whether Harriet Miers is conservative enough to serve on the Supreme Court. Since she has served as many days as a judge as I have (zero), there is no track record for the hardliners to rely upon.
In essence, Bush said today in a news conference, "Trust me, this nomination will be fine."
The far right wing is apparently not willing to do so. I wonder why?

I think its a brillian political move by the Christian conservative pro life pro family religious right. I think they really do support her but if they come out against her, the Dems will say she's OK and won't give her such a hard time in the hearings. Another brilliant political move by Karl Rove.
I agree-PLUS you gotta love the BANGS!!!!!
Interesting thought. Here's another one-I have never seen anyone wear two pins on each side.
i agree with 10:52 - maybe it's the jewelery - now come on, a good Christian conservative woman should reflect it by dressing modestly.
....goodness, pearls are so much more acceptable and ladylike.
.....the hearings should be good. Not gonna miss those!
Good Christian conservative women should dress in "burkas" or whatever those black veils are that the Taliban made the women wear.
Good Christian conservative women should walk three steps behind the man.
Good Christian conservative women should submit to their husbands every wish!
Does she look or act the part of a good Christian conservative woman?
NO! She didn't get to where she is today by being a second class citizen!
I like the lady. She is a powerful woman in her own right. She isn't going to ask Thomas how she should vote.
Sorry, right wing, you didn't get what you thought you would when you joined "together at the hip" with big business.
Big business always wins.
If you want right wing nuts on the Supreme Court, form your own party!
Money rules!
She kind of looks like Nana, the one that has the butterscotch candies on the coffee table in the living room in case the kiddies stop by.
6:50:
Was your dad mean to you when you were young?
Do you hate all men or just all males over the age of 2?
Why so angry with big business? Did you wash out in business or are you just signing on to the demos "class warfare" strategy?
From your comments, you clearly know nothing about the Christian faith or its teachings regarding women. (and yeah I know you were attempting to be sarcastic)
OK, I'll bite, 10:06 anon. What does the Bible and/or Christian teaching and the Christian faith say about women? And 6:50 anon, you hit the nail on the head. You don't sound like a man hater to me. 6:50 anon sounds like a someone who has some of his or her own gender issues....hmmmm.
From 1st Corinthians 11 (The Message):
3In a marriage relationship, there is authority from Christ to husband, and from husband to wife. The authority of Christ is the authority of God. 4Any man who speaks with God or about God in a way that shows a lack of respect for the authority of Christ, dishonors Christ. 5In the same way, a wife who speaks with God in a way that shows a lack of respect for the authority of her husband, dishonors her husband. 6Worse, she dishonors herself--an ugly sight, like a woman with her head shaved. This is basically the origin of these customs we have of women wearing head coverings in worship, while men take their hats off. By these symbolic acts, 7 -9men and women, who far too often butt heads with each other, submit their "heads" to the Head: God.
10Don't, by the way, read too much into the differences here between men and women. 11Neither man nor woman can go it alone or claim priority. Man was created first, as a beautiful shining reflection of God--that is true. But the head on a woman's body clearly outshines in beauty the head of her "head," her husband. 12The first woman came from man, true--but ever since then, every man comes from a woman! And since virtually everything comes from God anyway, let's quit going through these "who's first" routines.
13 -15Don't you agree there is something naturally powerful in the symbolism--a woman, her beautiful hair reminiscent of angels, praying in adoration; a man, his head bared in reverence, praying in submission? 16I hope you're not going to be argumentative about this. All God's churches see it this way; I don't want you standing out as an exception.
No veils.
No three steps behind.
No granting every wish.
In fact Paul teaches that the husband is be like Christ in order for a woman to submit to his spiritual leadership. It is not a slave or inferior relationship at all.
They obviously have seen great liars before, particularly among their peers, and therefore trust no one.
