There Are Things I'll Never Understand

Billionare "hedge fund investor" (I've never been sure exactly what that is) Steven Cohen has paid Las Vegas casino owner Steven Wynn more that $100 million for two paintings: Van Gogh's Peasant Woman Against a Background of Wheat (1890) and Paul Gauguin's (who?) Bathers (1902). (Click on the painting's name to see them)

WHAT! I gather from reading this blog that the author is a professional person with a fair amount of education and intelligence. And you never heard of Paul Gauguin? Do you get into Ft. Worth often? There's an outstanding museum located there. Sometime between Dec. 18, 2005-Mar. 26, 2006 stroll inside the Kimbell Art Museum and buy a ticket for the exhibition being showcased for that time frame. It is titled GAUGUIN AND IMPRESSIONISM. You won't be disappointed.

I think I am going to start giving my cat a paintbrush then selling the paintings on ebay.. Amazing what strokes of a brush can produce.

Hmmm, I gather an appreciation of the arts isn't a strong trait among some Wise Countians.

I would rather the masterpieces be in a museum than private collections, so everyone could enjoy them.
