President Bush nominated Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.
After years of looking at her face in the Texas Bar Journal, she always came across more as a politician than a lawyer (not that that's a bad thing).
But I was perplexed by Bush's introduction of her which included the line: "She has been recognized by the American Law Journal as one of the most powerful lawyers in America." I have never understood what that meant.

Why can't he at least nominate a hot judge for the supreme court seat. jeez.
Maybe it's code for: If you need help moving heavy furniture, call this chic!
Could this lawyer be one of those hated "trial lawyers" that George hates so much?
Well, if you don't understand what "one of the most powerful lawyers in America" would entail, maybe you're not one of them?

One thing you can be sure of,President Bush would never appoint one of those "trial lawyers". He trying to solve problems not create more.
Who did you favor Jim Adler (the Supreme Court Hammer) or Brian Loncar?
When I think of one of the most powerful lawyers in America, her clients did very well in the courtroom.
What ever happened about serving as a judge before going to the top position?
Bush broke his campaign promise to the Religious Right. He is sending powerful lawyers who like the executive branch and the president (him) to serve for life.
Will Pat Robertson quit praying that more positions will open on the Supreme Court now. He seems to have lost his influence with the one who nominates them.
You should all go look at Harriet Miers Blog
Man I hope I did that right
Barry, you well know there are many things difficult to understand concerning lawyers.
