Did not realize there was a pent-up demand for companies and organizations from around the U.S. and Texas to have conventions in between Decatur and Bridgeport.

Big waste of money. The civic center has run in the red ever since it was new.

It will be a house of hookers and meth with the new truck stop

i'm no economic expert, but you'd think for a hotel chain to spend that kind of money on a property it would be to attract something other than the "Wichita falls to fort worth" casual driving traveler. isn't that who occupies like 85% of the hotel rooms in Decatur on a nightly basis? Granted, a few years ago there were oil patch guys sloggin in on a nightly basis to every hotel in the county, but those days are gone. Maybe there's a coming airport expansion in the wings too? I mean, it makes as much sense ass artificial turf.

Maybe you guys should attend a meeting or ask around. Adding a hotel to the Civic Center should attract bigger business to the Civic Center - more overnight conventions and conferences, which will benefit both. I'm curious - what's your source on "The civic center has run in the red ever since it was new."

You can check in but you can never leave.

12:48 Go to the City's website and check out their public budget info. It generates revenues of $560,000 but has expenses of $$917,000. That's called running in the red and it has done it every year since year one.

I think hotel next to civic center will boost its appeal.

I think it so awesome that that Decatur is getting such a luxurious hotel. It will be great for honeymoons and anniversaries. Also, it will be wonderful for DHS to have their school proms locally. With all the marijuana and alcohol in our school it will be conforting to know that our babies are close to theie mommas and daddy's. It would also be a great experience for parents to attend so we can relive the whole experience. It is so exciting to think that myself and all my ex-classmates can have a wonderful breakfast while our husbands recover from the Jack Daniels challenge. This town is becoming first class, much like Gainsville or Wichita Falls. Its such an exiting time to be apart of this opportunity and to have a Mormon faith based business for all us to enjoy. I love Decatur...county seat of Wise....Home of the bed bugs skeeters and flies.
