The Campaign For DA

7.19.2016

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

  • One thing the Baylor Bears and the Republicans have in common: There is a slight hope for this Fall but, in reality, this is going to be a long four years as they both try to re-invent themselves.
  • Donald Trump's entrance at the convention last night vs. The Undertaker's entrance for wrestling. Who ya got?
  • And it can't be stressed enough: The President in Idiocracy was former "five time ultimate smackdown wrestling champion", President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho.
  • I went to bed hearing the pundits say that Melania Trump "knocked it out of the park". I woke up with "she stole it from Michelle Obama's 2008 speech." (Here's the amazing video mashup of the plagiarism everyone is talking about.) How did they screw that up?
  • But her greatest nugget, which makes me smile to no end, was straight out of Rick Astley.
  • And with her great accent, all I could hear from her was, "Must get pesky moose and squirrel." (That's some old man humor for ya -- and, fittingly, I stole that joke.)
  • At this point, the Democrats could probably just shorten their convention to just Hillary walking to the podium, holding up her hand, and saying, "We're good. Thanks."
  • No one puts me over the edge more than Rudy Giuliani. Last night he said, "What I did for New York, Donald Trump will do for America!" What's that? Walk down the streets for a photo op while it burns instead of doing your job?
  •  House Speaker Paul Ryan spoke to the Texas delegation this morning. What about Trump? "Sometime we root for a different team in the same conference," he said.
  • I didn't know Trump had a son named Barron.
  •  Dallas Fire and Rescue has given up the search of trying to locate the body of the SMU officer who reportedly drowned in Turtle Creek.
  • What's the construction project off the square in Decatur (east side - across from the post office and the probation department)?
  • This morning: "Patient crashes ambulance into Dallas warehouse." Two days ago: "Man arrested after taking ambulance on joy ride to Jack in the Box in Old East Dallas."

Chris Christie said on Today Show Melania didn't plagiarize her speech they just had similar thoughts, besides 90% of her speech was different. Yeah, right.

I think you mean Hillary could walk up to the podium and announce, "I am the best you could muster, I am entitled to this, and I am vagina, hear me roar".
There was an age old tradition among the samurai and their masters following defeat….
Barry, I suggest some compassionate soul go over to your residence and remove all the sharp objects beforehand.

Rudy's leadership during 9/11 and the days thereafter was iconic. You are a sick little liberal shill. If you were the Libertarian you claim to be, why no Gary Johnson coverage? Ever?

Now maybe the oversized dually/extended cab trucks will use the new parking lot instead of clogging up Trinity in front of Roosters.

Amen to 9:07 AM. And also park there to go the post office, as well.

Sorry, counselor. This morning's "thoughts" are nothing but repeats of Democrat sniping. It's your blog and your right, of course. But not up to your usual level of excellence. And Hillary's latest trouble ("Primaries were rigged for Clinton" or the Washington Post's "The continuing political decline of Hillary Clinton") (aka "real news") never reaches your radar. .

MSNBC's Chris Matthers was going apesh*t last night over Melania's speech. A little later, Trimuph the insult dog was trying to horn in on a gathering of MSNBC floor reporters. I was hoping to see Chris Jansing but no such luck. Be that as it may so to speak.

The Rudy that led us through the dark days following 9/11 was not anywhere close to that mess we saw last night. Seriously, is there any leadership anywhere? Bueller?

Meanwhile Hillary spoke to a crowd at the NAACP.
I think I heard 6 people clapping after her race-baiting speech.

The remainder were asleep, or arms folded, or rolling their eyes.

Why not talk about her instead of Trump????

There is no way on Earth she will win unless the election is rigged.

But what about the Kim & Taylor kerfuffle?

I don't understand why people aren't passing out when Hillary speaks like they did left and right when Obama spoke.

I really don't understand why the crowds for Trump are more excited than ever about Trump than people ever were about Obama, yet people aren't passing out.

Hmmmmm, do you think people passing out for Obama was staged and fake?

Regarding the speech, who friken cares other than liberals who, like Green , are going to bitch and moan regardless of what Trump or his wife say.

The speech was a plant by a rogue campaign speech writer. I'm more worried about Trump's seat of the pants approach to this campaign than anything else. He should have policies and procedures in place to prevent this stuff from happening. As horrible as Clinton is she is running a much tighter ship.

Your comments this morning are just one long boring troll. Ya know, if Trump wins there's going to be a race war. If Clinton wins, there will be a general uprising with white folks putting targets on liberals, in other words, a race war.

We're good to go either way.

10:38 sounds like a well informed and grounded individual. I would take his commentary to the bank.

All you need to know about Donald Trump is that he asked Scott Baio to speak on his behalf. Just think about that. Me personally, I would've asked Alan Thicke to offer up an endorsement, but what do I know?!

Also, that guy who makes the duck calls and wears the flag as a bandana was there. So, the GOP pretty much has this thing wrapped up. Think about that, the GOP basically chose an ignorant and hyper religious hick, and some has-been sitcom actor to represent them at a nationally televised event. I wouldn't have those jackasses endorse a used car lot. How does this not cause people concern?

Anonymous said...

I guess if you guys are okay with having a plagiarist for vice president for 8 years I can get over having a foreign born hot model plagiarist as first lady. At least for 4 years.

He cribs most of his stuff from Gordon Keith anyway. My favorite part last night was reading posts making fun of Mrs. Trump as an idiot and ripping her speech just to find out it was Mrs. Obama's. Some anyway.

Barry, you are not normally so bold. Thanks for scooting out on that limb. I'm gonna just hand you a little handsaw. It will be fun watching you gnaw at it. Right up until about 9:00 PM on November 8th, when it all comes crashing down.

No one listened to Michelle Obama speak that I know. She owns none of the English language. I am just sorry for Mrs. Trump that her life is in any way similar to Michelle Obama's. Surely this country isn't stupid enough to move the criminal Clinton's back into the White House. His impeachment should have been embarrassing enough.

11:26 the religious hick you speak of has a masters degree in education and was a pro quarterback prospect. Is also a multi millionaire. What have you done smart guy?

wordkyle said...

1056 - Sorry if the sources don't meet your standards. However, the information is still valid. Google the latest Guccifer 2.0 release of Democrat documents to find a source that satisfies you. As for the Hillary Clinton bad news, the writer cites WaPo/ABC news polls for the info (Spoiler alert: "Strongly unfavorable" views of HRC hit an all time high.) Besides, the piece is not one-sided other than the title, and the author has, in the past, written the usual anti-Republican pieces WaPo is known for. "Opinion piece" is not an accurate description.

So they're both "real news," it's just apparently news you don't like.

"Opinion piece" is not an accurate description. -- They literally say "Opinion" at the top of the page.

Despite your attack about what you presume to be my political leanings, I really don't disagree with what you said in your first post. Just take a chill pill and cite a real source. Or don't and just blindly go after anyone who clicks your link.

You seem to be a little confused with facts.

Willie gave the speech last night. His old man was the starting QB at La. Tech, not Willie. If he was pro material or not is a different question.

The old man was replaced by Terry Bradshaw at La. Tech, who did become a pro QB.

Anonymous said...

Well if Melania slole that speech it's okay by me. At least she doesn't look like a gorilla mouthing it

wordkyle said...

128 - Not really. I've made plenty of comments over the years critical of the Republican party. Nonetheless, rather than trust your opinion or mine, readers can look for themselves to check the validity of the citations.

120 - The Observer piece does indeed say Opinion at the top of the page. But the information -- the "news" -- on the Guccifer release of Democrat documents is not opinion, it's news that's available from other sources as well. The WaPo piece is not classified as Opinion, and is as much news as other WaPo pieces. So both pieces are "real news." One reports on a recent document release, and the other reports on recent polling.

Come on does not anyone else not see the ultimate irony that the person they copied from for the speech was an Obama. I mean the Republicans have just spent 8 years pissing and moaning about everything either of the Obama's did or said and now someone decided to use parts of her speech cause guess what, it had some good thoughts. Don't care for Trump or Clinton but this is hilarious to me.

Nasreen Iqbal said...

I felt bad for Mrs. Trump. Her first major speech like that and somebody didn't run the speech through a program that detects plagiarism. One of Bush's old advisers was on tv this morning saying that they checked all of the convention speeches that way even back in 2004.

Whoever dropped the ball picked a very bad person to drop it on. The candidate's wife? I'm glad it wasn't me.
