Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • There's all sorts of talk of Rick Perry making another run for the Presidency. If so, he is delusional.
  • Police dug up a body just across the Wise County line in Tarrant County a couple of days ago. It'll hit the news in a couple of days.
  • Former Aggie great from the late 1980s Darren Lewis was charged with aggravated robbery. I wonder, seriously, if watching the Aggies this year made him despondent about a better time in his life.
  • Dumb question: Do none of the big name cowboys (i.e. Trevor Brazile) take part in any of the rodeos at the Stock Show?
  • I was watching a college basketball with the Fourth Grader in the House last night and had to explain why teams intentionally foul in the last minute and, thus, slowing down the game. She suggested that the team who gets fouled automatically get half a point and retain possession of the ball. Not a bad idea.
  • Allen High School has a band of about a billion members and had had the same band director since 1999.  He suddenly quit, became a middle school teacher, and no one will say why.
  • There's a boy being held in an underground bunker by a guy who took him from a school bus after shooting the driver. You would think this would get Baby Jessica-like news coverage.
  • "Tarrant County Tax Assessor Ron Wright said Wednesday that District Attorney Joe Shannon should resign because of sexual harassment charges that became public last week." That's just weird. You don't see old white Republicans in Tarrant County taking shots at fellow Republicans.
  • If you ever visit one of those "Emergency Clinics" popping up around the metroplex, be prepared for a shockingly high bill. And I'm talking in the four digits kind of shocking.

I wouldn't be so quick to say delusional, he would have the benefit of learning from some pretty huge gaffes and the next election will be a whole new ball of wax for both parties.

The fourth grader would make more sense if she suggested something other than a half point. Half really, and teams win games fouling at the end to keep the other guys from running out a clock. I hate basketball and I know that.

One time in band camp.....

RTG, meh... you've posted better.

The story about the boy in the bunker is horribly written. Did they let the local high-school-newspaper reporter write it? Great journalism, CNN.

If by "emergency clinic" you mean urgent-care or minor-care facilities, I'm not sure why you think the bill will be so bad. My family has used them several times when one of us has been sick and the doctor's office was closed, because going there is cheaper than filing something like an ER visit on our private health insurance (which we can barely afford and really only have in case of major emergencies - when do I get the free healthcare that is my right as a US citizen??!?). We've gone several times and while it's not free, it's never cost us more than about $150 to see a doc and get a prescription to resolve things like ear infections and strep throat. Cheap? No. Thousands of dollars? Definitely not.

Allen band director probably got fed-up with the unbelievable stress put on high school teachers and coaches these days to perform at perfection and nothing less. Stress at the middle school level is less and he can still finish out his retirement there. I know several teachers who have moved from high school to middle school.

> Yes, Dumb question. All the big names compete at the Stock Show. There are just too many cowboys that compete, 100 + in each event. Therefore you might now catch them on a certain night. Between Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston Stock Shows. These are among some of the biggest rodeos for them out of the whole year.

Shooting at Kaufman County Courthouse - early reports say it was a prosecutor who was targeted by multiple gunmen.

Anonymous said...

I would have thought the Kaufman County Courthouse was a gun free zone. They should have posted signs.

Anonymous said...

Post the signs !!!! stupid

RTG: So, we are back to the muffin topping, flabby thigh beachcows, huh? Honey, if your skin folds sag on your belly ring, maybe it's time to take it out. That is NASTY!

Theory= Bacon and Green are the same guy that's why we keep getting the cows for RTG

Tuf Cooper roped last night and there were several other big name cowboys. Joe Beaver , the NFR announcer, even tried to rope.

$200+ for a get out of work note. They're rip-offs. And it was just a nurse that I saw.

Rick Perry is an alcoholic. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But, he should stay out of public and do some type of private business.

You don't see old white Republicans in Tarrant County taking shots at fellow Republicans.

Most of the old white Republicans who work for the county are former Democrats.

Proud Barry never made it up to the 4th floor. Not surprising really.

Perry an alcoholic? Never heard that before, but the guy is the worst egomaniac ever.

Joe Beaver is a roper first off. The announcing job was a second job for him.

Basic medical care hasn't changed that much, and shouldn't cost that much. $1,000s for an ER visit. Just ask the right people and they can diagnose and fix you, most of the time. Can't get you any good drugs for pain or infection, though. Not even from Mexico, anymore. Google how to deliver a baby, and go out and deliver that baby.

You live in a town full of roping cowboys. Can't you have lunch with one and let them explain to you how the slack works?

Rick Perry , meh. Ted Cruz, meh. But it would be out of sight to see him get Ruger and S and W into manufacturing in Texas. Good paying jobs in DFW.

Anonymous said...

Only minimum wage jobs. Maybe a dollar more if you work the night shift.

Anonymous said...

GE started at 17 an hour for low end jobs

Anonymous said...

12:47, hmmmm let's see, Dollar General or Ruger? No brainer. Even at a reduced wage.

Rick Perry has the secret to winning the next election. He's gonna write the answers on his hand this time.

Anonymous said...

Just what we need. A gay president.

Anonymous said...

Rick Perry is the typical cowpoke Aggie. He sickens me and I'm a card carrying Republican.

Anonymous said...

I wish Rick Perry would pay attention to Texas a bit and skip stroking his ego.

Who am I kidding. I wish Rick Perry would get hit by a turkey truck.
