Allright folks, a semi-automatic rifle is not an "assualt weapon". I frequently carry a mini-14 on predator hunts. You could have inflicted the same damage with my mini-14 as you could have with an AR in a mass shooting. You could have done it simply carrying a few semi-auto pistols. You could have done it with a 22 rifle with high capacity magazines and well placed shots. You could have done it with a tactical shotgun with buckshot and a drum feeder. You cold have done it with several revolvers and auto-loaders.
The reports show that most were killed with multiple shots. I assume most of you visualize this was due to him spraying a fully auto weapon into a crowd. I highly doubt this to be the case. He was methodical and moved slowly from victim to victim firing only a few rounds at a time.
So how deep do you cut on gun control? Do you go after everything but a single shot?
I agree that people in the northeast who own guns just to own guns shouldn't be aloud to have them. If you did not grow up with guns, using them for hunting and target shooting you should probably not ever have them. To this kid a gun was just a button on a game until he got his hands on a real one.
I could give any prospective gun buyer a 3 minute quiz and determine whether they need the gun they are wanting to purchase or not. This lady didn't need an AR-15 for home protection. She should have only been aloud to purchase a small pistol or home defense shotgun based on her needs. It is about common sense.

I would rather boycott walmart for the way it treats the employees with low wages and bad working conditions instead of selling at least one American made product like the AR-15.
