I ride a motorcycle, and the on coming left turn is one of my biggest fears. That and Trucks, Deer and wild hogs. I pray for that family. Someone most likely lost a Husband, Dad and Grandfather all in a split second. Be safe out there folks and stay alert. :(

Rhome needs more people on the department to help direct traffic while the other members are providing help to the injured instead of having to count on other cities. It would benefit Newark and others.

Rhome should have a fire station the size of fort worth's. they were panhandling on every corner today. They were even at loves. I could not get through rhome without a boot in my face. They have zero tolerance on everything in that city except begging for money.

So as a paid firefighter, I don't disagree with a city wanting/trying to hire/pay its members. It speeds up response times when minutes count. On the other hand if the department is out collecting money to buy equipment, trucks, or pay it's personal it needs to reevaluate its prioritys.
The next question is why hire from within the department? It won't change the shortage of man power, no one wants to volunteer in the hope of getting a part-time job, the current members are not the most trusted members of the city, and do you really have that many certified people
Last but not lest, my understanding is Rhome runs around 600-800 EMS/fire calls a year. I do not think that is a lot many cause thats only 2.191 (really not a lot) calls a day that you better hope happens during the hours of 8am-5pm cause the other hours you might not get a response as the people paid are now home. Also if they don't run that many calls what do they plan on doing all day long cause when I drive by all I ever see is people sitting on their a**es.

If Rhome would just take all those tacky looking "Slow down, we love our kids", "Drugs Zero Tolerance", and all other useless garbage signs to the metal recycler, they'd have enough money to put Chicago's fire house to shame.

12:15, stop checking out their a**es.

12:15, then get off your butt and join, your superior intellect will better the department.

No thank you 1:24, I believe giving a city service for free only encourages a city/community to continue accepting a free service. My point behind them sitting counting cars is if you want to be a professional then you must act like one or become invisible which would work as well but difficult in this town.
