We could rely upon the Texas Attorney General to take the lead in an investigation if the story involved cheerleader banners with Bible verses, a voter ID issue, or United Nation representatives monitoring elections. But, alas, we just talking about cops killing unarmed and (possibly) illegal immigrants.

Yeah and how many illegal immigrants have killed law enforcement? I think the DPS was right in the shooting if you have nothing to hide then pull over otherwise face the consequences!
Many people in the valley are not as sympathetic as we are. It is a common sight to see illegals racing to the river "at any cost" to escape arrest. Many innocent people have been killed in auto accidents as a result. It does not justify firing on a fleeing truck but there is another perspective.
I must agree with 3:54 PM, when the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed, it became a deadly weapon. How many innocent lives were at risk during the pursuit or if the pursuit would have continued?
I think the Senator might reconsider his position if the pursuit would have caused the death of one of his children...
But alas, all hope is not lost...I'm sure an attorney somewhere will collect fees for wrongful death instead of criminal defense.

In the link you posted the other day (I believe that's where I saw it) there was a statement that it appeared the only damage to the vehicle was a shot out tire. No bullet holes in the glass, no bullet holes in the body. It may not be the wild west shootoit that you are trying to paint it. Maybe we should wait and see what the investigation reveals before pointing fingers either way.
There are 2 classes of people. Cops and Non-Cops. Cops get to shoot unarmed people without worry. "I thought I saw a weapon".

They can shoot anyone fleeing and and it suits me just fine .Just today thr dallas police chased a car for ten minutes only to have them to crash into an innocent person.If it happens to me they won't have to run any of them down on foot.I have a right to carry and do and will.
Do you people honestly think that if the roles were reversed, meaning Americans on Mexican soil hauling ass for the river, the Mexican police wouldn't open fire on your ass? Yes they would. And the truck would have been destroyed to the point of needing a broom and dustpan! The only difference in the role reversal?....you wouldn't have the media coverage. And if you can't understand that, there isn't anything I can say to make you understand. You'll never get it.
I particularly liked Senator Lucio's assertion that even Jesus was an illegal alien.
