It is a problem when you use an entertainer as your source for news for your students. Why don't you turn the TV in the classroom to MSNBC or some other liberal program for the students to watch and you can paint your fingernails and eat Bon-Bons. You will do less damage that way.
Anderson Cooper came out in the media this summer, although he said that since high school he had not hidden it from friends, family, and co-workers. But he thought it was a private issue (and it is) but he came out publically on his show this summer, saying - “I do think that the tide of history only moves forward when everyone is fully visible…I didn’t want to send a message that there was anything I was ashamed about or unhappy about.”
Many gays feel they need to be public about their sexuality in order to put a face on their fight for equal rights. It's much harder to want to treat people as "less than you" when those people are your friends and neighbors.
Probably a good strategy, but it's too bad it's even an issue. We are who we are.
Congrats to the teacher. Never twittered myself & probably never will. My life & thoughts are not interesting enough to share every waking moment. But to those who do, party on.
Cooper (son of Gloria Vanderbilt) is a self profess gay. He has some liberal views, in the dictionary definition of liberal.
You ever stop to think in the late 18th century the conservatives were supporting the king and the liberals were working to form a new country. Just saying.
3:16 - The rights that gays do not have that heterosexuals do have include - The right to marry, social security survivor rights, family insurance benefits, unpaid rights to care for an ill spouse, spousal rights & benefits for income tax and other taxes, rights to make medical decisions for an ill spouse, hospital visitation rights for a spouse or child, right to adopt as a couple, etc. You might seem a little more informed if you.....well.... WERE INFORMED.
well, 7:53, teachers do not have social security survivor (rights) benefits from their spouse either. That's right! As far as caring for a gay partner, the partner can cover giving the right to make medical decisions, the right to benefit from inheritance, etc.. with a Medical Directive, by listing the partner as one who can receive any and all medical information (signing hippa form) and by including the partner in a WILL!!! I also recall several gay partners have adopted kids. Whining is whining.
Sure sounds like to me there needs to be some poundin out on this here issue. Ole Barron is wishin he was a poundin it out with Cooper. Just can't beat it.
Thanks for the support. I agree with you completely. The gays want additional rights. I do not have the right to marry anyone I want. I can only marry a person of the opposite sex that will have me. Same as for gays. And many states are now allowing this additional right to gays. 9:19covered the rest pretty well. Gays are just a bunch of whiners.
9:17 - Thank you! Hopefully, there are more of us than we realize; we just don't want to take the time to respond to minds that are clamped shut and deaf to facts. I know that's why I seldom comment. I am glad Rage takes the time to comment. His dry humor makes me laugh.
9:19 - Teachers don't have social security survivor rights because they have Teacher Retirement System. Those that oppose teachers having SS survivor benefits argue that teachers would be double dipping in public coffers if they got the benefits. So teachers and gays do not have this benefit for different reasons. A straight person in an occupation other than teaching, would have this right. Teachers, as well as gays, continue to fight for this right. They are denied this right for different reasons. Both have strong arguments. I believe they are both right, but I think the gay argument is the stronger legal argument of the 2. You can call it whining if you want. I call it answering your question. So next time, if you don't want me to answer your question, don't ask me a question. And keep working on getting informed. You're still battling that one... and not well.

I think Anderson might be gay. Not that I would want to say that where anyone could hear me. It's not my place to judge anyone.
I've never watched it and never will so who cares? Not me.
1:34 - Is that your attempt at humor? What is it you are making fun of, JERK?
To Teela Watson - Congratulations - What a fun surprise! Have a great time!
That's ok to say, as long as you don't use the word queer.
Anderson, what a panty waist. Can I say panty waist?
Nothing is more hillbilly than when a woman says "I love me some ______". Might as well have said, "Get off me Pa, you're crushing my smokes".

Don't see why not. Foghorn Leghorn says it on an old Looney Tunes.
So cool for Teela! How exciting!!
....and I think BSG might have been just looking for an excuse to repost Anderson giggling! (Although it is still pretty funny!)

Your post "Decatur Woman Wins Contest To Be On Anderson Cooper" will not make Anderson happy since he doesn't swing that way.
To the first 2:04, what on earth are you talking about? You were somehow offended by 1:34?
And to Teela, Congrats! Very cool!
I don't know if he'd suck one but he might keep it in his mouth until the swellin went down....Oh please,I meant his thumb.
Hey Fagot! I don't appreciate being called a jerk. Meet me at the pickle park and we will settle this.

Again, what rights do I, as a straight person, have that gays do not have?
Please explain this to me. Gays have the exact same rights that straights have.
Congrats to the teacher. Never twittered myself & probably never will. My life & thoughts are not interesting enough to share every waking moment. But to those who do, party on.
My Other Brother Darryl
Congrats Teela! That is awesome and could not happen to a nicer or more deserving person!!!
Who is Anderson Cooper??? Looks like a little, liberal pinhead.
Go git em Teela!

he liked getting all sweaty with barney frank and doing the bunga bunga.
If you're wife's name is Teela and she follows Anderson Cooper, what method do you use to kill yourself?

Thanks 7:53. There are a few enlightened out there - even on this blog!

Maybe it is you who should be more informed.

6:19PM, Isn't it funny how over time things have reversed?
Absolutely amazing how a post that was supposed to showcase a local appearing on the Anderson show turned to discussion on gays.
Barry jumps up and down as his blog ratings rise due to hits of such stupidity.
By the way, BG, give us some stats as to how your blog measures up to those "inferior approved" ones.
Nothing brings out the closet bigots like homosexuality. Stay classy Wise County!
