We should pay football coaches whatever it takes. We all know that we way back to world domination of manufacturing is winning football. There is no way the Chinese will surpass us economically if we just focus on winning football championships.
Those who see a school's success or failure (high school or college) in football as a measure of how good a school it is are dumb*****.
On Thursday five senior football players lied to me about something. When I discovered the lie, I did not refer them to their various assistant principals, nor did I call home. I emailed the head football coach.
On Friday, the boys came to class, heads hanging, and apologized. They then sat down and spent 90 minutes being model students.
I get the same result if I have to contact the girls drill team director.
I wish every kid in my school was involved in an extra-curricular activity that has such strong leadership.
Eagle football is about being a character and cutting class. Half the low wage jobs in Decatur are filled by the "Matthew McConaughey" wannabees living days of old glory on the Decatur gridiron.
You freakin armcchair wanna - be quarterbacks get a life. Most of these jocks will end up with some kinda of injury , workin some low paying job cuz they have no brains. Need to focus more on Education.

Coach Story merits a pay raise if he keeps winning. We need to quit losing good people Decatur and step up and be proactive to retain the best.
