Today:
"Here at the Star-Telegram we have seen an unprecedented loss in advertising revenue with many of our best customers either going out of business or closing locations, and employment advertising dropping to all time lows. In response to these losses we are developing plans to reduce expenses. Unfortunately, these cuts will include position eliminations."

I like the
Star-Telegram.
(And on an unrelated note, another high tone restaurant in Victory Plaza, which is quickly becoming a ghost town, looks like it has
closed.)

The Telegram will either adapt or cease to exist. In economics it's called creative destruction. As innovators and entrepreneurs create new ways to do things -- disseminate information, for example -- established companies and industries that can't adapt die out. (The invention of the automobile killed the horsedrawn cart and buggy industry.)
True, there is pain as old companies are closed and people become unemployed. But it's what powers the constant renewal of capitalism and sustains longterm economic growth.
I bet Obammy is worried about the newspapers too. They carried his water for him during the campaign and now without them he is going to have to rely on the alphabet tv news which are starting to turn on him. Communism needs the media.
So is this the decline of the 4th estate (sounds like either a book or a movie?)?
Where will AnObiter eat now that she's back from her 3 month vacation in Hawaii??
High tone retailers, companies and restaurants, are getting a rude awaking, aren't they? Greed never wins. Too bad they weren't smart enough to figure that out.

You are an idiot. Where is the greed is having a business that markets to a specific segment.
I suppose the answer will be all black cars sold by Walmart.
Farthorn I would never call YOU an idiot.
I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you? Was choking on a jar of bullsh*t.
A great paper and in my lifetime always has been- would be sad to see it go.
