Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • I saw Revolutionary Road last night. It starred Kate Winslet, Leonardo DeCaprio, and Kathy Bates ---- it took me a second to realize that it was darn near the entire cast of Titanic.
  • Line of the movie when referring to our daily grind of getting up and doing the same thing: "Hopeless emptiness. Now you've said it. Plenty of people are onto the emptiness, but it takes real guts to see the hopelessness." (Yep, this is a recurring theme with me.)
  • Woah! The new weather girl on Fox 4's morning news, Fiona Gorostiza, has arrived. Very hawt. Watch her dance, yep dance, here.
  • So this morning there was Megan Henderson, Krystle Gutierrez, and Gorostiza all on the same show. Mercy.
  • If I were a hot girl (stay with me here), I think I'd walk around the mall just to catch people looking at me.
  • Light freezing rain tonight and tomorrow? From the NWS: "Freezing Rain Advisory in effect from 6 PM this evening to 6 am CST Tuesday... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night."
  • Women are confusing.
  • I still think an economic crisis - far worse than anything we've seen -- is coming later this year.
  • Just your average college basketball face stomp over the weekend.
  • Had a friend say that we should follow "Me Love You Long Time" as a cute Asian girl walked past us (we were trying to find an exit.)
  • I heard The Knack's other hit "Good Girls Don't" last night on the radio for the first time in I bet 20 years.
  • Good grief. Paul Blart: Mall Cop was at the top of the box office again. They'll probably have Mall Cop 2 out by the end of the summer.
  • Will this story never end? One private school beat another private school 100-0. Nothing happens for 10 days until the Dallas Morning News printed a front page story about it. Six days later, the winning coach was fired. And the losing team has been glorified somehow.
  • I watched a little of the Senior Bowl this weekend -- enough to see Tech's Graham Harrell play awful. And I mean badly.
  • I have no interest in the Fort Worth Stock Show.

Yep, I need a flu-shot and the one on the left will do. However, I also believe I have a hernia and.....

College Basketball is the "mini-me" of the NBA. When do you think they'll began wearing pads and helments? How a sport revolving around throwing a round ball into a hoop and running up and down a court can become such a contact sport, I'll never understand. It's become more and more agressive over the years and the blame should be pointed directly at those who make the rules, or don't make the rules.

Did anyone see where Popeye's brother was arrested in Rhome.

You seem to be complaining that Dallas Academy, the loser of the 100-0 basketball game, is being "glorified." They're victims, see? And being a victim is the new road to glorification in America.

So spaketh Ann Coulter in her new bestseller, Guilty. (It's the one with the cover photo of her wearing a black top.) How does it feel to a Liberal to share a sentiment with Ann?

I think some of the issues with the school beating Dallas Academy 100 to 1 is maybe because DA is a school for kids with some issues.

From the DA website:

Dallas Academy restores the promise of full academic enrichment to students with learning differences. Our staff establishes a meaningful connection with each student to overcome barriers to success.

See what happens when you take a QB From Tech away from his pass happy offense he is just an average QB

Fox 4 is the new girls next door

From what I heard, the coach that got fired didn't want to apologize because he didn't think he did anything wrong. but, if he left his starters in for most of the game, then he did. He sounds like an overzealous coach who got his rocks off on beating up some kids with learning problems. Sounds like a real winner to me, he will probably be the leading candidate for Decatur basketball coach next year.

As for the pic of the girls, have you run out of different pictures that you have to reuse them. That one sure looks familiar.

that fiona sure is a hottie. i love me some fox4 news more now than ever.

...but who did she replace?

The Peaster girls have scored in excess of 100 points a few times this season.

Some coaches need such scores to feel good about themselves, but none of them will be playing in Austin.

re: Face Stomp

It always amazes me when an athlete does something like this and thinks they are going to get away with it. Do they not realize that there are cameras watching every move?

Reminds me of when Jason Terry punched Michael Finley in the junk a few years back in the playoffs. Did he really think that no one would see that? It might have worked in high school, but dude, you are in the NBA!

I wish they would leave that 100 to 0 game alone. We've heard enough already. Please, let's get on with life.

Barry, it would seem you 'watch' too much weather reporting.

Why women are confusing....

"Do you like this outfit on me?" means "You better notice how nice I look and say something NOW!"

"What are we doing for dinner tonight?" means "Where are you taking me for dinner, and I'm not talking Sonic with a coupon."

"I'm going shopping" means you need to file for financial debt relief.

"Since you got a new computer, I may buy some new furniture" means you spent $1000, she is going to spend a minimum of $3000, and you will need to file for financial debt relief.

"I can't believe January is almost over" means "My birthday is coming up and you by God better remember it, and spend at least $1000 on me", and you will need to file for financial debt relief.

"Where are we going for Spring Break?" means you are paying for a trip, and I'm not talking about a scenic tour of Forestburg, and the debt relief thing.

"I'm exhausted!" means "You better get your butt in gear and start helping out more around the house!"

"I'm going to take a hot bath to relax" means there is potential for happy happy joy joy a little later. Keep your fingers crossed.

"Remember, if Momma ain't happy, nobody's happy" means EXACTLY that.

Did you see Fiona's bio on the Fox website...interesting! Especially near the end she adds:
"I guess … I should also mention, I have a third-degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and I hold three World-Championship titles. I taught taekwondo for many years as a certified instructor. A proud dog owner, I can be found at the local dog parks. In my spare time I enjoy world traveling, horseback riding, working towards my pilot's license and visiting Las Vegas to see family and friends."

Wow!

I don't see what the big deal is over that basketball game I mean really, is it worth national attention? The team they beat was a bunch of retards- they won't know the difference.

Peaster lost to Brock last week by one point. Peaster will make it to Regionals, but will get blown out the minute a good defensive team can rattle the cage. All they have to do is shut down the middle with a good zone and let the guards shut down the three point line. If Brock can beat them, I betcha Bowie could too. Bowie is the only team that has beaten the 24-1 Bridgeport team. It would be a great game, that's for sure.

How does it feel to a Liberal to share a sentiment with Ann?

I don't even want to hear about this being some liberal nonsense. This is a Christian school for crying out loud, and supposedly it is not "Christ-like" to whip your opponent 100-0, a sentiment that perhaps a handful of liberals the world over share.

Anonymous said...

9:11 I don't think Decatur will be needing your so-called coach next year. They're doing just fine without your comments or tactless coach.

Anonymous said...

Seriously, you're comparing a Bowie team to a Brock team?

I don't know much about Bowie basketball these days, but for more than 25 years, Brock has paved the way to Austin, and done so quite successfully.

Peaster's had their fair share of the state tourney, too.

xan - First, I'm not for sure what you said. Second, my point was that BG seemed to be criticizing the "glorification" of the losing team. They are victims, you see. In her most recent bestseller Ann Coulter talks about how Liberals strive to make victims out of people so that they can then be held up in a glorified manner. Barry's point agrees with Ann's. I asked how he felt about that.

Go watch Bowie play. They could beat Brock and Peaster. They're team is pretty deep. Even deeper with the Enis kid on there. So yes, I'm comparing.
