Decatur ISD Opening at 10:30?
That's the preliminary report (but I've not seen anything official.)
But I just glimpsed at Channel 21 news (which I've watched maybe twice in my life) and, at 7:10 p.m., cars are standing still on the overpasses at I-35 and I-30.
Any reports from dear, sweet Wise County?

Libby Liz reported that her porch is a skating rink and that her husband slipped and fell. She is so devoted to her weather reporting that she didn't get up to help him. Still awaiting more reports.
There is freezing rain / sleet (what IS the difference) coming down right now (7:50) harder than it has all day. It is white and more visible than earlier stuff, and building up on the ground. (we are No. of town off 51)
I don't see the roads getting better by morning. Glad I got bred, milk and water today!
It is sleeting now in Decatur.
It is still sleeting in Runaway Bay at 8:28.

It is sleeting quite hard here in Decatur. I don't see that a late start is going to make a big difference! The weather is supposed to fine by tomorrow afternoon, but with highway 287 by Rhome closed it would be hard for buses to go get kids even at 8:00 in the morning.
Sleeting west of Paradise. NWS radar shows more coming for entire Wise County.

FYI--Sleet is already frozen when it hits, freezing rain is liquid when it hits, but then freezes afterwards. Freezing rain makes things WAY slicker. However, a lot of sleet is pretty slick, too. Everybody, be safe out there.

Hard sleet in Alvord. Ground completely covered.
Had a thick coat of ice on the trailer and hay when I went out at 3 this afternoon to feed the cattle. So, the sleet on top of the ice is not going to melt tonight...just getting worse.
Radar showing a lot more moving in from the SW....Gonna be a long ...cold night.....may have to re-look at some "Random Thoughts"..............

Well, in Bridgeport it finally stopped... at 11:00pm.
Not sure how they can go to school at 10:30am. Don't think roads will be good by then... right now they are a sheet of ice with sleet piled up on top.

Hubby fell....then got up and called me on his cell phone to tell me NOT to go out that it was icy.........I didn't even know the old man had left..........He is in better shape than I..old cougher(sp) is 5 years older than I!
