The Messenger was in love with Northwest ISD softball pitcher Brittany Barnhill last year who struck out a record 12,209,976 batters (or something like that) in her career.
She now pitches for The Evil Empire and has a record of 3-5 but might be figuring it out.

She seems to be off the rubber.

That is a personal choice made after careful and private deliberation. Please respect her choice.
Impossible, she's not old enough or has had time to play enough games to strike out that many batters.
She has however had enough time to eat several boxes of Ho-Ho's and a case or two of cream soda's.
I agrre with 9:43; seems like she may have "bulked up" a little. Probably the cold one's @ Scholtz's Bier Garten.
9:43....do us all a favor and kill yourself.
Very mature anon 9:43 am.
I'm sure you have a figure similar to Kalista Flockhart.
What does "off the rubber" mean?
Yeah, she is off the rubber. It doesn't mean anything. Just one of those "Things that sound dirty but probably aren't" things. Try reading between the lines
And so what if she has gained some weight? Can't say for sure, don't recall exactly what she looked like before. If she can throw strikes, no big deal. A player on the Olympic softball team - Crystal(?) Bustamante - was huge. But that was the idea, she could smack the crap out of that ball. (and I'm PO'd that they took softball off the Olympic schedule. Guess the rest of the world got tired of getting their butts kicked every time!)
What the hell? Softball players are always built like Mack trucks.
Mac Trucks with loads of Ho-Ho's and cream soda's and Ummmm Dooooo Nuuuuts.
K, please keep in mind I grew up very sheltered and I'm probably asking for it by asking this but...
What does "off the rubber" mean?
to answer the question, "Off the rubber" is talking about her right foot leaving the pitching plate, also known as "the rubber" since that's what it's made of. This photo shows that she has already launched into her pitching motion and is about to release the ball.
Pitching rules state that the pitcher's "throwing" foot (her right one since she's right-handed) has to be in contact with the "rubber"throughout the entire pitching motion. She has a very fast delivery, so that's why it looks as though she is doing wrong by not touching the plate.
In case anyone cares...
Joe Duty made her "SUPER HOT" in the mess pics.
