That's the big news today as DFW was announced to be the fastest growing area in the nation last year. I believe it. Traffic in the metroplex is insane. Just 10 years ago, you could easily cruise from Decatur to downtown Fort Worth and never hit your brake lights. These days, sometimes traffic is backed up on 287 as it merges onto I-35. And don't even think about a quick trip to Northeast Mall. (Sidenote: Did you know that a Best Buy is being built at Golden Triangle Blvd and I-35?)And although Wise County continues to grow, its not keeping pace with Tarrant County. It's an odd phenomenon in north Tarrant County where it seems that housing subdivisions pop up everywhere but tend to stop at the Wise County line.

There's also a Belk's & Sam Moon coming to the same area as Best Buy.
The growth pattern was a question of mine for several years. I could not figure out how you could draw a 50 mile circle around DFW and we were the only "rural" county.
A real estate person explained it to me this way...Rhome had no water and that stopped growth for most of the 1990s. Now the issue is piplines. There is no place to build a 200 house subdivision anymore in the county. Just look at the difficulties the schools have when they need a 150 acre site. Even the Boyd housing development is a 1 acre type deal (which is at a dead stand still right now).
This lack of fast growth,in the end, may be a God send. Wise County will never be "urban".
i think they get as far as newark and think they have made it to heaven.
1) For what ever reason they stop, be thankful;
2) The "brains" (ie Perry, Big Oil, etc.) keep wanting to build more roads and hire more cops to patrol them while a truely regional mass-transit system is virtually ignored. At one time, a person could catcha train in town and go anywheer they wanted. The US had the best transportation system IN THE WORLD!!! and we let GM, Ford, Shell and Exxon talk us out of it. I hope it gets so bad in Tarrant and Dallas counties that all the concrete poured turns into a virtual parking lot. Maybe then they will look @ spending less on roads and regressive transportation means and more about effectively moving people from one place to another.
That's ok; it will end w/ the next energy bust. How far away can that be?
I hate to correct you Barry, but they are Damn Yankees. They stayed here.
I think the guys who issue the permits to build in Wise County inspect your belongings to make sure each member of the family has a camouflage hat and shirt and that no one has been to the dentist in at least 12 years. You must also never, under any circumstances post with a user name on this blog ~ you must remain anonymous so you can say mean things to others without repercussion. :)
Screw you Jarhead!

Amen to 1:23 PM. And by the way, Dallasites are referred to here as "Dallas Yankees".
Uh, 12:12 - "piplines"? What is that...the words said by Gladys Knight's backup singers? I wouldn't think that had anything to do with growth in Wise Co. Pipelines, maybe!
I'm just sayin'
yeah, 1:35 use your real
name..is it jar head...
is head your last name,
or sexual preferance
I rest my case.
I failed living there because I refused to buy camo under-roos. I had to draw the line somewhere, that shit was everywhere.

Jarhead - you're so funny.
When did you take up comic relief?
Well, I was in a clusterf6@k at the station on 287 & 730 today - only regular and diesel.....cars were moving all around.......it was scary......I was waiting for someone to go ballistic......and as I was leaving, some bald headed jerk with his a$$ up his head driving a big silver Dodge almost backed in to me. Gack! I got out of there and back to gawd's country as fast and safely as I could.
Uh, Jarhead you're still posting under a pseudonym. Unless that is the name your parents gave you. Doesn't really distinguish you from the millions of other Marines.
I'm proud to be Anonymous. We do not forgive. We do not forget. We are Legion.
I think it is the inbreeding, small mindedness and back biting that keeps Wise county from being anywhere INFORMED people want to live.
Hey, what gives? I thought I was the only one that complained about "anonymous" posts.
Yes rpm, nice of you to id yourself. We all know those initials. Rotten Peckerheaded Moron.
So many INSECURE people on this blog. Get so tired of reading the crap of how stupid rural people are and, mind you, this is come from a "Dallas Yankee" who probably has more Southern roots in my pinky than most of you West Texas twangers. Bwahahahahahahahahahah!!!!
6:22:
You (pl) must be new to these parts. Do a search of the old posts on this blog, or better yet (easier for you [pl]), look at my blog to see how "anonymous" I am.
Open mouth, insert boot(s) ~ since you (pl) are Legion.
**cricket(s) chirping**
jarhead, I've been reading/posting here from the beginning. You're the new kid in town, sizzlechest.
The best you can do is a reference from the Jerky Boys?
Come on. You've "been posting here from the beginning." Can't you be a little more creative than using a worn out term from the early 90s?
Try again.
If I was speaking to a more intelligent or clueful person, then the level of discourse would go up. As it stands, the comment was more than you deserve.
Like you know a single thing about me.
I guess this is what I get for feeding trolls.
Have a good one.
Kevin

Y'all need to come down and see us. In true country fashion I gotta tell ya, our lake is bigger than your lake. :)
You can pick on Wise County all you want, but if it's so bad, why are the $250,000+ housing additions cropping up everywhere all the time?
Must not be so bad.
