Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

- As they reconfigure the lanes at I-30 this morning (for new road construction), someone didn't know what they were doing. Only one lane is getting through. (I somehow get a guilty pleasure of watching the traffic carnage in the metroplex on TV every morning.)
- "I gave him to the government nice and healthy, and the government returned somebody who is capable of doing something like that," Andres Acevedo said. Story. The Iraq War has not only needlessly killed 4,000 young men and women, it's screwing up those that survive.
- Edit: Regarding 4,000, you have to see this.
- I hate wind. I'll take cold. I'll take hot. But real windy days beat me down. And we are in store for three in a row.
- I'm so confused. Boston and Oakland are playing the first game of the baseball season right now (7:00 a.m) in Japan. It's suppose to be on ESPN2 but the network has lost it's signal. To quote Barry Switzer, maybe they got Japped.
- The Rockwall DA is insane for stealing a few thousand dollars which led to his conviction yesterday. When I became DA at the ripe old age of 30, I had exclusive control over the same checkbooks that got that guy into trouble (hot check fees, seizure money.) My dad strongly suggested I take those books over to the County Treasurer and require her co-signature on any expenditures. I did it.
- The "Awareness Test". Sent in by an emailer and, trust me, it is absolutely worth 50 seconds of your time. Do it.
- Gas prices and electricity bills this summer are going to kill us.
- Random "Cowboy Up."
- I wonder if that pic at the top enlarges if you click it.
- Added: Is this Aggie Interpretive Dance?

My random morning thought:
The Decatur Fire Marshal vehicle is a WASTE of my City TAX MONEY. I have written before about this and think the Chief can justify his vehicle. HOWEVER, I have asked for copies of the tickets on what all was spent regarding the Fire Marshal Vehicle. I will scan them in, and post them later today if they are turned over to me. One I can justify talking to the FD, but two,,I THINK NOT! I would like to see how many emergency calls the FM responds to. Very little, I can tell you with my own eyes. My salary could be a little higher if we did not pay for this vehicle...........

I believe it was the big Tuna who made the Japped comment.

The Iraq War has'nt killed 4000 of our young men and women. Radical, misguided, Muslim thugs have killed them. Get it right, Barry.

Yeah, it's all the "guvmint's" fault that you stabbed your girlfriend to death. When everybody who serves tours over in Iraq do the same, THEN you'll have a defense. Yes, the picture does enlarge!

So again I get on the blog and see something about the Decatur Fire Marshal. Do people in this county not have anything better to do than worry about him? I mean really obviously the city wants him that vehicle or it wounldn't have been issued to him. Yes he does respond to emergency calls..I can tell you that with my own eyes!

By the way, it's Decatur Fire CHIEF (and Deputy Fire CHIEF), not "Marshall". And I have been told by those "in the know" that the vehicles and their respective paint jobs were not as expensive as they might appear to be (what with government/fleet rates, etc.).

9:51 I do have a lot other things to do. I have stressed my thoughts on the FM Vehicle and the job he does. However, it fell of ears that did not care. The Mayor will, and I truly think t he FD is a good thing. The Chief vehicle is justified and the City approved the expenditure for both. The City is at fault and the Chief needs to think his actions through before spending. Even if the city funds the "high profile" project such as the FM vehicle. I see the FM on a daily basis and think that the FD could have used a much less expensive vehicle than what they have for him. I am guessing the miles on his vehicle are very low, justifying a vehicle less expensive. HOWEVER, when asked my opinion.........I told it to the wrong person.......Statements are here for expenditures,,,,scanning now.....

The Busy policy has helped some relationships in the Middle East. Iraq and Iran are becoming better friends almost daily. Viva La Surge!

"Anonymous" I think it's time you get over the Fire Marshall vehicle. It's old news and I'm tired of reading your pointless rants. You put a real damper on my happy mood.Go complain to someone that will care and maybe do something about it!

Anonymous said...

Maybe we can get something done as I know the City reads the BLOG...........

enough about the freaking FM vehicle. Why does it mater anyway.......we need to see the tickets they say they have. If it was as expensive as they say, the City should be the topic on here. Especially for letting him spend that type of money. They saved some money wiring the vehicle with a off duty deputy at the fire station, but I guarentee you they spent over 40k on that damn car....

Silicone,do you need someone to hold you?

maybe i am looking to low but did you see the shadow on her belle?

Barry, back to the original topic.. that's why neither one of us were indicted by the 1990-91 U.S. DA sweep. Business was done by the book, that's why we still have a good name and reputation. But, it was hard to testify on those that didn't..... LEAVE FIRE MARSHALL ALONE COUNTY TAX PAYERS, it's Decatur taking care of DECATUR BUSINESS.

Thanks. Just wasted 50 seconds of my life. Now I'm going to runover the next cyclist I see to make up for it.

I have an economical japanese truck and a motorcycle. I applaud the notion of $5 or more gasoline if that's what it takes to finally separate all of the fools from their foolish behemoths. You should have been ashamed a long time ago and weren't. And electricity? Bet there's a lot of waste we can find there too if the price gets high enough.

No sympathy for sel-inflicted wounds.
