A Faithful Reader Sends This Along

Subject: Benefit for Jackie Murphree Hi Barry, you can use these if you want to . . . . Just thought that we should share this. In only a matter of a few hours over $20,000 had been raised and they were still counting!! It would'nt surprise me if it goes to $30,000 or more. I know of one trucker that came in all the way from Dalhart, many of them were 300 to "500 miles away from home". Makes a person proud to be from Wise County!! Thanks!! Photos here. Edit: Updates about her condition here.

All these people are giving their hard earned money to help them pay for their expenses but do these people realize they (the family) will have more money then they will know what to do with when the lawsuit is over.

Sure hope they do something nice for the community in return!!

What a great gesture from these folks for such a precious young woman who is struggling to regain her health. There are many good caring people in this county.

Many!

Guess I don't know who Jackie is. However, the photo caption says the event took place in 3008. That's kinda far off, isin't it?

Funny thing about these little soirees-they tend to work a little better when people know about them BEFOREHAND.

4:52,

Funny little thing, it usually helps if you read the Update where it clearly lets you know about it BEFOREHAND.

1:06pm.... You need to think before you write. The family is in a civil lawsuit with a company that has already filed bankrupcy and a woman who has nothing. They can not sue the state because the state has immunity. The family is already paying for therapy out of pocket. Please know that the family has and will continue to be involved in many things in this community. Her Grandfather and uncle have both been Fire Chief for a number of years through the years. They are very grateful for the love and support this community has given Jackie.

4:25pm Jackie Murphree was hit by a drunk driver on 380 west on August 17 at 8:00am. She was a Senior at Texas A & M with a very bright future. She graduated from DHS in '04. Now she is trying to recover from a severe brain injury. She has yet to regain total conscience.

We are all praying for her and her family. Thanks to all the guys who put this great event together.

To anonymous....
Who says the family will ever get anything out of a lawsuit? If they do, it is not helping their current financial needs.
They are not the first to file a lawsuit against Site Concrete.
How insincere of you to post a comment like such!!!

1:06 - please rethink your comments - this family cannot be compensated financially for what they have suffered - money can't buy the future that they had hoped for Jackie - one that all good parents want for their child......

.....but if it comes down that they do have some money from all of this, at least they can pay bills and my bet is that they WILL do a lot for their community, in return for what has been done for them......

......may God be with Jackie and her family.

Jackie graduated from DHS in 2005, not 2004. She was set to graduate from Texas A&M in only 3 years.

Who is keeping Jackie alive? At what cost? Who pays that cost? Apparently God allowed this event to occur, so why don't we let Jackie out of this suspended state? OK now call me names for being straightforward.

Jackie's keeping herself alive she is not on life support or anything like that.

I have never met Jackie and until last week when my family decided to participate in the truck show did I know anything about her. I have since read articles to get the best possible knowledge of who she is. I have been very touched from everything that I have learned. I may never have the opportunity to meet her, but I wish her the best in her recovery. Prayer has never hurt anyone and is good practice anytime. I wish nothing but the best for your entire Murphree family.
