If you want to see some mind numbing $$$$$, check out Rep. Phil King's financial report that was filed eight days before the election. Others here.

Alright, I'm a little confused. So the guy that has the most support and raises the most money is the bad guy and we should vote for the other guy. So, if you are raising funds and no one contributes, everyone should vote for you? Move over Husein(?) (Obama), Nader is coming through!!!??
Okay, Barry, we know you have no use for King...but being a fair man I know you would want us also to know where Tison's money came from.
For those who are curious you can go to: www.ethics.state.tx.us Campaign Finance & Lobby Reports Campaign Finance Reports Filer Acct # 00062702...search Click on filer ID View PDF file
If you go you might wonder why...as I did...how come Tison's hasn't been updated. Even if it had been, it wouldn't show the money coming in under the radar from the gambling interests among others.
If you are of the "bought and paid for" persuasion, you should be aware that there are multiple directions that brush can swing.
You might also consider the possibility that both candidates are honorable men and one has perhaps, over time, earned the respect of a much broader cross section of citizens and the providers of services used by each of us.
You might also consider that Wise and Parker counties do not and cannot stand alone. Like it or not, we are part of a much larger whole and perhaps we should be grateful for a representative who has the wisdom to understand that and the ability to work with others to the benefit of District 61.
The guy that has the most money from the companies that appear before his committee to raise your rates buys the most media. You put enough ads on during Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and you get the most lemmings to vote for you. That way it's easier for him to screw those lemmings (along with everyone that can see the truth) out of more money so you can get more contributions from the companies that appear before your committee to screw you even more.
someone figure the percentage of contributors and money that actually came from his constituents (parker and wise counties). after three pages, it looks to be very low on both percentages. mostly austin and houston contributors.
7:30 I was kind of joking, but kind of serious. I am not into politics, so, unfortunately, I don't keep up. I have met King several times, as many have. He APPEARS to be of good moral character, concerned about how much we pay in taxes and other fees, and generally looking out for our best interest. How does someone that has great ideas and genuine concerns for us, get elected if they can't raise the funds to compete with the big dogs? It's a bad system, but, it's all we have. 12:01
And you are absolutely right...it takes a lot of money. We voters need to become more educated and rely less on headlines and the negative newspaper, radio and TV ads.
And I personally believe a hard look at campaign financing would not be out of order. At the very least, each candidate should have to clearly show how, and by whom, their campaign is being financed.

Bought and paid for.
I just saw where Texas Farm Bureau gave him money. I think I'll change insurance companies. Blah!
