Not related to BBall game but just got me a little fired up. Found in today's update.

"HISPANIC CHAMBER - The Wise County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's meets today at 7 p.m. at the Wise County Messenger conference room. The chamber's mission is to develop, promote and protect Hispanic communities in Wise County and to support and promote the education and economic growth of the Hispanic business community."

Here is the deal. I am an average white guy trying to just earn a living and raise a family. I help with the Chamber of C trying to help promote all of Wise County no matter the business or where the owners come from. Do they feel it is necessary to protect the Hispanic communities? Are we trying to destroy them or something?

If I tried to say the same thing about a white C of C then all hell would break loose. I would be regarded as a KKK member which I am so freaking far from it isn't even funny. Just don't want an Hispanic KKK as well.

Gee, if you don't want to come across as racist maybe you might think once or twice before labeling an organization who's stated purpose is to "develop, promote and protect Hispanic communities....to support and promote the education and economic growth of the Hispanic business community" as somehow analogous to "Hispanic KKK".

What exactly is so threatening to you?
Why wouldn't the success of a Hispanic business, any business in fact, be a good thing for everyone in the community?
How does the mere existence of a Hispanic organization take something away from your ability to "earn a living and raise a family".

Why so defensive and hostile?

Okay 8:24, what if I said it this way.

"CAUCASIAN CHAMBER - The Wise County Caucasian Chamber of Commerce's meets today at 7 p.m. at the Wise County Messenger conference room. The chamber's mission is to develop, promote and protect caucasian communities in Wise County and to support and promote the education and economic growth of the Caucasian business community."

8:24, If you support the Hispanic Chamber would you then also support the Caucasian Chamber?

Yeah, 8:24 missed the point big time. 3:54 never said he was "threatened" by Hispanics doing well in business (he would probably congratulate them if they do). However, their ability to be racially exclusive in their organization is the problem. "Caucasians" can't do that without being branded "racist". Like I've been saying over and over, the only racists left in this country (with the exception of idiotic Neo-Nazis) are the minorities. My definition of racist? Someone who mentions race and pulls the "race card" all the time. Only our "minorities" seem to do that on a regular basis. To re-paraphrase the cartoon strip Pogo--"THEY have found the (racist) enemy, and the enemy is THEM"! I guess it's sad that in battling racism, they have gone full circle, and become this nation's only remaining racists.

No, 9:31, it is you and 12:24 who miss the point big time.

Racial minorities are "this nations only remaining racists" is a statement which boggles the mind with staggering ignorance. Do you honestly believe that? Your own comment and those of 12:24 belie this assertion.

There is no need for a "caucasian" Chamber of Commerce because there is, from a minority point of view, already one in existence. You make the incredible assumption that racial minorities are/have been operating on a level playing field with whites. I guess that makes sense as you apparently also believe that there are no caucasial racists except for "neo-nazis". Astounding.

And yes, 12:24 sounds threatened and defensive.

Am I threatened by these actions, no. Do I wish we could all just line up and promote this community and our neighborhoods together - absolutely. Thats all I'm trying to say.

Also, I didn't realize our CofC discriminated against minority owned businesses in town or declined to work with them in whatever way possible.
