It's the holidays so forgive me if it is slow posting over the next couple of days. Who knows, it depends on if I see anything interesting.
Tomorrow, unless I oversleep, I'll be running the 8 Mile Turkey Trot in Dallas. I've done it for a number of years, and it may be my favorite day of the year. It's an incredible experience with thousands of people showing up to run when most people are in bed.
My first stab at it was about 10 years ago, and I was so afraid that I couldn't make the eight miles that I cut off the route and went the 3.5 mile alternative route instead. The next year I went the entire 8 miles and thought I might be meeting The Maker shortly after the finish line. One year I ran with a new girlfriend who beat me on the eight mile course by three minutes and taunted me relentlessly. I ran it one year with my first wife. Last year I had a horrible thigh cramp on mile number two but refused to quit - that, my bruther, was pain the rest of the way.
I hate to admit it, but over the last three year the run has become a tad bit harder. But I refuse to get old. I plan on doing it for years to come.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you out there. Although I'm concerned about each and every one of you because you read the crap, I'm glad you're out there. (And, for those interested, what I wrote one year ago could be written again today.)

Good luck to you and Sheriff Walker who is also running today.

I SAW THE SHERIFF!!!!!!!! Well Barry it was not in Ft. WOrth but I did see our Sheriff in his TURKEY TROT uniform on Camp Bowie at 7:15 this morning. He was with two beautiful women and apparently ran the 5k. The trot was indeed a great experience. Barry, call the Sheriff and have him post something or send it to you on his experience as you have noted...
My mistake, I SAW the SHERIFF in Ft. Worth and not DALLAS where BARRY ran.....sorry
I shot the sheriff
I hope you have had a wonderful day and pray that you didnt meet your maker this morning!!! Love you~ See ya tomorrow~

As a banker here in Wise County, it was EXTREMELY nice to see several Wise Countians here in the FW turkey trot. Congratulations, Lisa D.,Skip, and David, you are all awesome.....
