I wonder if they will have the camera in Rhome and the Chief in Decatur. I am amazed that we often see the camera in Rhome, and to top that off, Decatur has a HUGE burglary problem, yet their officers are always on 287 writing tickets. Especially the Chief

1:29 - are you crazy??? There is a ton of traffic going 114. Every Texas Tech kid or people going to Lubbock from Dallas travel that road. This has been going on for 25 years. I couldn't begin to tell you all of the many many people I have met and when they ask me where I am from and I say Bridgeport, they say, "yeah, I know where it is... I got stopped at Runaway Bay".
Decatur had a speed trap, but they got in trouble for it. My husband got stopped there and threw a fit - went before the judge and it was dismissed instantly because they were aware it was a speed trap.
There is so much traffic in Wise County - much worse than the DFW area. I know - I commute.
Speed traps are illegal aren't they Barry. The cop clocking you must be the cop writing you the ticket and have the speed for you to look at.He must also pull his car behind you. He can't flag you down and write you a ticket.
Why all the fuss about speed traps? If you're speeding, how is it that you are "trapped" if you get a ticket? Aren't you doing something you know good and well is going to get you a ticket? Aren't there signs everywhere? Don't we know what the speed limits are where we're driving? Aren't we the ones who can make every speed trap in American disappear overnight?
I believe the reason the speed limit signs are posted is because that is a safer speed through a town.
Runaway Bay is an incorporated city thus speed limits are in order to avoid people getting killed entering and exiting streets and businesses.
Oh oh, I forgot, the speed limit signs are there for the police convenience so they can stop you and run the risk of being shot or much worse. If not for the violators, police would be unemployed, eh?
people need to learn what a speed trap is. a trap is when the speed limi is changed and the sign is not posted or hidden where it can not be seen. the police are not making you speed, you decide to do that on your own. then when you get stopped, you claim it is a speed trap. another myth is that the officer has to show you your speed, there is no law in the state that requires the officer to show you the radar.
Could someone just let me know what the top 10 are. I do not live in DFW anymore, but I find the blog enjoyable since I used to live in Wise County. Thanks in advance

PERHAPS you should take a course in the transportation code. There is nothing in the transportation code that says that the officer has to show you your speed.
I am so sick of people telling me what the law says and are only spouting what some other person told them. Be intelligent about it and check it out. O by the way, also check out the validity of an email, "the urban legends" before you just forward them along.
