I Love The Decatur Courthouse . . .

. . . because it doesn't have cameras in the courtroom! I blogged a while back about a lawyer that showed up for trial drunk in Las Vegas. Incredibly, that courtroom was equipped with a ton of cameras and has an audio system that is stellar. The videos of the event are all posted here. Quite frankly, they are huge to download and probably not worth your time. However, if you want to see some tension between (an overly nice) judge and a buzzed (but not drunk) lawyer. check it out. Edit: If you love reality TV, this stuff is pure gold.

I love the Wise County Courthouse too because it doesn't have cameras in the courtrooms and because Decatur doesn't own it.

:-)

Interesting ANON 9:04

If Decatur doesn't own it's own courthouse, who owns it?

Greta, I would imagine that it is owned by the U.S. government since it is a governmental building. It is in Decatur because that is the county seat of this county.

Bush is involved somehow.

There were a few Mondays of pre-trial torture with CA Durden that I wished the officers could relax with a 0.08 and enjoy there day off, add slots we could have pretended we were in Vegas and accomplishing something.

OMG people. I'm a Decatur native and I love the courthouse, too. But it is the WISE COUNTY courthouse. Hence, it is owned by Wise County (that's right, under the control of the commissioners), just like the City of Decatur owns the Decatur City Hall.

You have all got it wrong. The courthouse belongs to the people and in today's society the only people who count are the wealthy and the lawyers who protect them. The courthouse belongs to Hollis Jones, James Wood and Bill Sandford.

As a matter of fact, everyone who lives in Wise county belongs to one of those three.

11:29, I don't know and am certainly sorry for whatever happened to you to make you so bitter ... but bitterness is no excuse for that kind of ignorance. You are so wrong about how things work in these parts ... that I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
