According to the Department of Defense the "D" in D-day has no specific meaning. The term as defined by the Joint Chiefs means; "D-day. The unnamed day on which a particular operation commences or is to commence."

The D for in D-day represents that the day is designated for that particular operation.
In my case it usually means Divorce day.
the d doesn't stand for anything. it is just military term for the day when something important is going to happen... d day, h hour, m minute... they do a weird repeat for illiteration, but it is just a variable, it doesn't mean a thing. there are a bunch with nebulous meanings like d day, but they are used to designate an action.
