I dream all the time that I'm back in school, final exams are approaching, and I haven't been to class in weeks.
It makes me stressed.
And I've had this dream for the last 20 years.
In mine, not only have I not been to class in weeks, but every building that I go in to is the wrong building...when it had been the right building before. I've been having it for about 15 years.
And if you were a band student like I was, you would dream about getting ready to march, and you don't know the music, where to go, and when to do what!!
I swear, I thought I was the only one. In mine they are always different schools, never the same layout. No one is willing to help me find my classes. My teachers make fun of me when I get to class. I had no idea it was test day when I arrive. And like you, for some reason I have been skipping school for weeks. I have been having this dream for about 8 yrs, since the last time I was in college. I guess it's part of the reason I was terrified to go back to school. Presently I'm back in school and stressed that I'll forget an assignment or that I'll walk in and it's test day and I had no idea. Sometimes, I'm actually trying out for the Volleyball/Basketball team again even though I'm way older than everyone else.
Similar for me, but golf. Ball keeps falling off the tee, or I can't get lined up for a shot because there are doors, windows, cars and assorted items always blocking the shot. Groups move on past me...a great anxiety dream and it repeats fairly often, several times a year but not during particularly stressful times.
Did some research: seems this is a VERY common dream throughout adulthood for those LEAST likely to go anywhere unprepared to excel. It's referred to as the "overachiever's nightmare." And, can "act as a barometer of internal pressure." The dream can let you know that even though you have high standards of excellence, you can lower your own expectations for YOURSELF and say "enough already."

When I read your Blog I thought maybe it was a Baylor thing (since I also went to school there). The responses are interesting. My dream is that it is final exam time at college and I just realized I had that course on my schedule but I have never been to the class and I need it to graduate.
OMG I do this too... only I can never find my locker and I don't know the comnination! It drives me nuts... I have beenout of school for 20 years too... why does this still haunt us?
I've had the same school dream - not prepared for the final, can't find the building and also the golf dream as I keep re teeing the ball so I can hit around corners or over trees or something. Interesting that so many have same dream.
To miz.gina: I've had that one, as well. I can never find my locker and when I finally find it, I don't know the combination. I've been out of school for 17 years and I'm still having that dream.

I dream the same thing but that I mislaid my schedule and I have missed one class all semester and I can't figure out which one it is.

It's not the water. I don't live anywhere near Wise County.
