Post Christmas Depression . . .

. . . was relieved for a while today because of a great Indianapolis / Pittsburgh playoff game.

Great Game. Glad to see Manning lose. (I hate the finger pointing thing over the center before every friggin play. I know what he is doing but it is annoying.) However, I was sorry to see Dungy lose. But it was a great game.

Manning showed real leadership skills by calling out his offensive line with the "we had protection problems" line. Real class...Best team he will EVER have and didn't have to face NE to get there and STILL couldn't make it. At least he can say he was one of the best regular season QBs!

And where are the Cowboys?????

Just think about it the NFC game next weekend Cows beat one, let the other game get away at the end.

You can cry about comparative scores vs. those two Cowboy losses. How about their other 5 losses? Where are those teams today? Fact is the Cows are pretty mediocre. Maybe next year.

If you knew anything about the game, the finger pointing is Peyton dissecting the defense and letting his offensive linemen know where possible blitzes are coming from. I love to watch him work and do this. He's one of the best at changing and re-designing plays at the line of scrimmage. However, the Steelers efforts to out-block the Colt's offensive linemen nullified Peyton's abilities. It was a good game. I, too, hated to see them lose.

I still think Peyton is still the best (post or regular season). No one else plays the position as well as he does. All good quarterbacks get rattled once-in-awhile. Give him a second or two longer to throw his passes and the game outcome would have been different.

This "great" game almost turned on a most stupid official's overturn of a Pitt interception. If the final field goal hadn't been missed, Pitt would have a serious question about the official's "fix".

I know plenty about the game, and the finger pointing thing is annoying, because it does not work. A smart defense can hide a blitz or coverage at any time before the play. Just line up and play football.
