Giddy Up

The Golden Globes award show is on tonight and, although I don't watch many of those type of shows, I normally like it. It's a combo of TV and movie stars that you don't see in one place very often. And I'm also interested to see if that movie will win Best Picture.

I see you love that movie bsg maybe its true about you? being gay that is?

Its the talk of the county.

....'the county' needs to find some other hobbies...

I would BET that this movie, 'Brokeback Mountain,' WILL garner many awards. If anything, simply because Hollywood loves a good controversy, especially something good-n-gay.

And, the movie's pretty darn good too, in my opinion. Yeah, sure, it's the two guys and all, and they do mar the beauty of the Old West, but it's a good forbidden love story.

I think Barry's right about "that movie" - it'll win several awards.

I enjoy seeing all the best and worst dresses!

Have you noticed "that movie" is winning all the awards from the liberal voters, but at the box office it is way, way, low hardly on the charts.

I really don't care about any of those kind of award shows. I used to watch them years ago, but then 'Terms of Endearment' won best picture in the academy awards in 1983 and I haven't watched any since then.

I hope it does! It was an excellent movie. The acting and the picturesque cinematography is excellent. Beautiful scenery. I think it will open minds a bit too or at least I hope so. When I went to see it, we were early and had to sit almost at the front of the huge theater. It was packed!!! Many men with families were there - mine included. It's a beautiful but painful story and I can only imagine how hard it was for someone to be gay in the 1960s. Today it's easier, but still a long way to go. I can't wait to see it win big tonight!!!

Anonymous said...

anon 4:44 I have a life! A very good life thank you.

Anonymous said...

You are right being GAY is just wrong! and you will get AIDS!

Anonymous said...

sick sick sick sick sick sick sick sick

Anonymous said...

Sick is right

Anonymous said...

Yes, it is a wonderful movie and love story! Yes, I have a wonderful life, too! No, I'm not sick and I don't have AIDS. How can some of you people be so ignorant and homophobic? Maybe it's you that is SICK, SICK, SICK!!!!!!!!!!! Open your hearts and your minds.

gofish said...

Why is it that people who don't approve of homosexual activity need to open our minds?
I completely disagree with some of the comments here that show no compassion to a person yet I also disagree that I am close-minded. Is it so much to ask that some of you be "tolerant" to my belief that homosexual activity is wrong in the eyes of God?

Anonymous said...

Amen to that

Anonymous said...

Its funny how you can talk about God, Jesus etc... and they just get all over you. But you say the word gay and they say you need to be open minded etc...

Makes you wonder who has the closed mind huh?

Anonymous said...

I bet that is BSG best line to his boy friend giddy up baby

Methinks, now that we are a few years into the 21st century, that a good many Wise Countians have been left behind. There's still hope for the progressive thinkers. Stay the course.

Long live the King Jesus!

There is still hope for all the lost that do not know the Lord!

Explain to me the ones that are gay.How it is natural to be gay? You cannot reproduce?Every creature was made to reproduce, so if your gay you cannot reproduce there will come a day and there will be no more gay people!

9:58 - Do you realize your complete lack of knowledge and/or logic? Gay people are produced by bisexual intercourse - just as are you "normal" people. There have been gay people of all cultures for all of recorded history. In this country some 8 to 10% of the current populous is gay. And while some gays do have children, their children are no more likely to be gay than the rest of the population. So our culture has survived for many centuries with gays present. We are likely to continue on with gays a part of our society. Learn to live with it 'cause you can't legislate it out of existence.

A thot: if God didn't want gays, why did he make so many of them?

Homosexuality, adultery, drunkeness, lying, cheating, killing...they are all sins according to the Bible and they have been a part of every society. Because these actions exist does not make them right, yet God made the person participating in all of them. No man is perfect and those that simply wish to write off the homosexual to hell any quicker than the abuser of alcohol needs to read the Bible again. We as Christians are given a mandate to love our fellow man but to battle against sin.
The guy looking at porn on his computer is a sinner. The guy drinking too much beer and talking about the hot chick he wishes he could have is a sinner too. I could go on and on but suffice it to say that anyone posting on this blog (yes, definitely including me) must be aware of their own failings. Still, this does not stop the need to be open to the existence of sin in any and every form and speak out against it but while we can all speak against sin, none of us has the right to condemn anyone to Hell. We can warn of it's impending day, we can address the things that will cast someone into that torment but we better be fully aware that we have our own battles with Satan to fight.

Anon 10:49 God did not and does not make gays as you said. why would a all loving God create something that is against His nature?

As for being born gay, I believe that does happen the reason being is becasue of a generational cruse.
The sins of the fathers are handed down 4 generations, its a cruse not a blessing.Just repent break that cruse and move on.
God had nothing to do with you are anyone being gay.Its a cruse a sin and God wants to set you free from that sin.

Anonymous said...

When you get bornagain you no longer have that sin nature the bible says it is talking about your bornagain spirit. Do we still sin after we are saved? Yes we but that nature is no longer in us if we go on sinning as if we were not saved the question is are we really saved? The bible says we must renew our mind to the things of God. No one needs to tell any of us that we are sinning we know that! The bible says if we know what to do and we do not do it. It is sin to us.Love the lost, Love the sinner but HATE the sin! God created all of us but not all of us are His children.Once we have a relationship with Him we no longer want to sin.Being gay is a lifestyle of sin just repent move with God.

'Giddy up' is, well, an odd expression. But why does Barry have to be "gay" for everything he says? That always reads so 12 to me...like a little kid saying, "Yeah, well you're a gaywad!" Have you SEEN all of the boobs the man posts?? Good grief...I have...I'm more in touch w/my masculine side than I care to be after visiting The Blog on most days.....;-)

I guess anon 6:07 is gay. what a shame. I know one thing, it is a disgrace to the cowboys. I am just sickened. Yes, I work cattle and rodeo and rope, and it makes me sick that anybody would put that bad a print on a cowboy.

Damn fags!

Have any of you Christians ever thought about dealing with your own beliefs and leaving the rest of the world to theirs? Believe as you like but that does not necessarily make it right or truth. Here's a flash - there are more people in this world who are NOT Christian than who are. They, too, know their beliefs are the "right" ones.

Can't you just live a good life and allow others their right to live theirs?

gofish said...

I can't Anon 10:46. God calls me to be a light to the world, to share the good news of His son and of the joy and hope I have in Him. I have no authority to condemn you for your beliefs (only God has that right) but I do have the mandate to share the message of His word.

Anonymous said...

anon 10:46
there are people that have said in this blog that they are gay and that the rest of us need to have a open mind about it! I did not call them any names etc.. I just shared what I believe so what seems to be your problem here? we all have a right to express what we believe right? That's what makes this country so GREAT!

Read anon 6:07 they said we need to open up our hearts and minds and not to be so ignorant and homophobic and sick, sick sick

why not tell anon 6:07 the same thing that you are telling me.

I will wait for your response.

Amen Gofish

It's funny how everyone has a right to share what they believe expect Christians

Anonymous said...

Recent posters, Yes you all have the right to your beliefs - you just don't have the right to IMPOSE them on others.

And remember, your BELIEF does not necessarily make it TRUTH.

Anonymous said...

ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS!!! Yes, God DOES allow gays in his military. Just because you're gay doesn't mean you're not a Christian.

Anonymous said...

I've seen the gay cowboy theme already...done much better. City Slickers. They loved each other, too; and had wives, but that did not make them gay.

Anonymous said...

A light in the darkness! The Bible says men's hearts will get harder and harder. We must let our light shine 24/7. Jesus is Lord of all or not Lord at all!

Anonymous said...

The Bible is truth!!!!! There was a day when everyone thought that the world was flat! That was their truth, but was it true? no the bible said all along it was round.

We will all stand before God one day you better get it right while you are here there are no do overs in heaven.

there is a heaven to gain.

Gay, not-gay, what-have-you...I agree with gofish, 100%. I, too, believe homosexuality to be a sin, BUT I also think some of the stuff I pull off every day is equally sinful. I've got enough in my own backyard to bother throwing stones at others. And, actually, I went to the gay church website that one gay (I'm assuming) anon posted, and was impressed enough to think about it for quite awhile. Jesus taught right vs. wrong, not hatemongering.

A very nice gay guy does my hair, and I would never intentionally hurt him for the world! If he loves his guy, whatever...none of my business--just like my sins are none of his!! =)

comment4u, I appreciate your comments. Thank you for at least having enough open mind to visit our church cathedralofhope.com
I hope you will further examine the website and see what we believe about the gospel and Christ. gofish, I hope you would do the same. I'll always contend I'm a sinner but not because I happen to be gay. Oh, did anybody notice that Brokeback won Best Picture? At one time, that was the topic of this blog:)

Anonymous said...

You must be easy to entertain.

comment4U said...

Well, I'm not [easy to entertain], but yes, Anon @ 5:15...(likewise, by the way, smile)...'Brokeback Mountain' WAS/IS the topic.

And, it DID win, I'm not surprised....it was an excellent flick. I've gotten some flack for seeing it, but you know, I've also seen 'The Crying Game,' 'Fried Green Tomatoes,' and more "gay" films, I'm sure. Hot topics, hot responses.

Still like it. Wonder why Jake didn't get nominated...he had me crying. Anything that makes you think--don't have to agree--is "good," in my opinion.
