A Purpose Driven Caffeine Fit

Remember my post about Starbucks placing catchy sayings on its cups? One that caused a great deal of outcry in the Bible Belt Of Wise County was one that said "life is too short . . . to hide being gay". It was a Comment Firestorm. By the way, I didn't know that Baylor University had yanked those cups out of its campus Starbucks. Go figure. Well, Starbucks, being no fool, has agreed to run a quote on its cups from the author of the "The Purpose Driven Life." No word yet on what it will be.

What will the cup say?? Purpose Driven life..is not for girlie men!
It will be green/gold with a big, big, mean male bear!

It will probably come from the Book, not the Bible, the Book, Purpose Driven Life.

Remember when churches were called New Testamont Churches. Now they are Purpose Driven Churches.

There are Purpose Driven greeting cards. So why not Purpose Driven cups?

Thank goodness we got rid of those cups--I can't tell you how many people change their ways because of a message on a paper cup!! Before long every caffine drinker would be gay! Oh the power of a paper cup!

The cup should have said,"Life is too short to wait in line 10 minutes for a cup of coffee".

I don't understand the huge uproar over the cups. The gay lifestyle is everywhere you look these days. The television has it...you choose not to watch those particular shows...magazines have it..choose not to purchase that magazine. If you don't like it on the cups...go to the Coffee Beanery! Quotes on my cup have no effect on the coffee inside it. GEEEZZZ!

I drink Dunn Brothers. They roast the beans fresh in the store. IT ROCKS!

I think I speak for a lot of people out there...

Wouldn't you rather read something positive on a cup first thing in the morning to get your day going?

Bring on Purpose Driven quotes!!

If we wanted to read something positive, would we all be reading this BLOG??? I think not.

Hey Fred, this blog isn't ALWAYS negative.

Comments are a lot of times but not the blog in general.

I really was not going to comment on this, HOWEVER….

Excuse me anonymous poster of the 9:08 AM comment. I am certain you believe you speak for "...a lot of people out there." However, I'm not one of the people who feel comfortable with you speaking for them.

If my being alive and well enough to awaken in the morning to get in my auto filled to the brim with $2.89 a gallon fuel and driving to Starbucks for the sole purpose of purchasing a $5.00 cup of coffee is not inspiration and affirmation enough that my life is just dandy fine, you can bet that there is no amount of touchy, feely, huggy, kissy drivel composed by some market survey group and scrawled across a cup that could make me appreciate my good fortune.

Of course, that is just me talking for me. In light of your post, I’m certain there is at least one person who would benefit by a message printed on a disposable cup. Thus, if it makes you feel better about being you, let Starbucks print whatever sweetie pie message it takes to make someone feel better about their life and spending $5.00 for a cup of joe.

WOW! No more coffee for me today!
