"HUTTO - A seventh-grade cheerleader died when she fell from a float and was run over during the Old Tyme Days festival parade this weekend, authorities said. The Texas Department of Public Safety said Melissa Swain, 12, stood up and fell forward off the flatbed trailer that served as the float. The trailer, which was being pulled by a pickup truck, ran over her."

That is so incredibly sad! My prayers are with the family and friends. Sadly a similar incident happened to a child in a Christmas parade in Azle years ago. His family lived in Decatur and has blessed that community for years!
I was in that parade in Azle, and parades after that in Azle. They changed the rules, for a while, tightend up who could be on the floats, who could drive, and so forth. Then Thursday I say a trailer full of teenagers barrelling up 730 for the home coming parade. How soon we foget. I am sure they will change the rules un Hutto also, for a while at least.
