Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • I can't take another second of Ray Lewis.
  • I didn't know the Ravens lost four of five games in December.
  • The lights going out at the Super Bowl was beyond bizarre and for a second there I thought they all had gone out.
  • The game is tough to watch because when you also want to see the commercials you feel like you never get a break.
  • Thumbs up to Beyonce. (Didn't she and Destiny's Child play the halftime at one of the Cowboys Thanksgiving game one time?)
  • Phil Simms seemed clueless as the game entered its final minute last night.
  • Mark Davis was going off this morning on the Jeep commercial narrated by Oprah which was dedicated to the military and entitled "Whole Again." Some how he sees that as an attack on the "war" in Afghanistan.
  • The police chase listed in the Update sounds crazy.  And I think I've seen the name "Shannon Hood" a few times on previous criminal dockets.
  • Wrong way driver on I-30 in Fort Worth last night caused the death of two people.
  • The news finally came out about the body found on the Wise County line.
  • I've criticized the "world's deadliest sniper" by trying to capitalize on his military service by writing a book, but his death at a gun range this weekend is simply awful.
  • I'm getting the feeling that the murder of the prosecutor in Kaufman County may not be solved.
  • That Daddy/Daughter Dance held Saturday night in Wise County is turning into a pretty big deal.
  • After watching Daytripper this weekend, I want to go to the Guadalupe Mountains.
  • Even I'll agree that Chuck Hagel did a horrible job at his Secretary of Defense confirmation hearing.
  • Mrs. LL went to sell girl scout cookies yesterday and took her mandolin. I have no idea.

Did you miss the fact that he took none of the royalties to the sniper book, they went to wounded soldier programs? Know the facts before you criticize counselor.

Very Gross.
That chick ate off every bit of her fingernails. There ain't none left!

Yuck!

How can you criticize Chris Kyle when he didn't keep any money from the book sales? It was all donated to fallen seals

Anonymous said...

Who cares if Kyle did keep money from his book sales ( he didn't).
Isn't that why people write books?
To make money from their story?

Geeeze, Green, are you not capitalizing on your experiences as a lawyer?

Your statement is more proof that you liberals just don't think too well.

I hate football, which team does phil simms play for anyway?

Liberal weenies hate the military.

Ironic that a guy who made a name for himself by shooting people from very long distances would meet his end at point-blank range, from somebody he knew.

Ray Lewis is really the only reason I didn't want the Ravens to win. Can't stand that guy! Otherwise, it would have been a tossup

When Phil Simms is calling a game, I find it's best not to pay any attention to what he's saying. His commentary reminds me of sitting next to some spare spectator who thinks he really knows the game, but offers up only very obvious observations

I was fairly unimpressed with most of the ads last night. Seems like they've reached a plateau in what they can offer

Good call Skippy last week on the buried body in Wise County! Way to go on getting the family's hopes up. SHEEESH

Maybe his book was therapy. Maybe the therapy was encouraged by his wife.

What is there to criticize? Everything I read about him said he was humble, that he cheated with the help of computers, and that he was given many opportunities.

You don't have to anymore. He's retiring.

The commercials are more hype than substance although that Paul Harvey commercial did a number on me. I remember being in Iraq on the day he died. Was genuinely sad.

You can give her a thumbs up, but that show made me think she was just a canned act. Any one of those back-up dancers or one of the other two from Destiny's child could have been out front and it would have been the same show.

Speaking of Destiny's child. Anyone else notice how it seemed like the volume on their mics' was about half that of the headliner??

It was like amateur hour on CBS. Did Marino talk at all during the power outage.

How county is Shannon Sharpe and how have I not noticed that before.

Mark Davis has a demo to cater his remarks towards. That commercial made my eyebrow twitch some, just because I think it is disengenuous to hear Oprah doing anything patriotic. I could be wrong. She just really grinds my gears.

I don't understand wrong way drivers. Even if you have had a drink, that's years of training and life experience going right out the window.

Were you a Chuck Hagel fan before?

Guadalupe Mountains is one of my stomping grounds. Go in the fall, and the hike at McKitrick Canyon is at its best. Otherwise, watch the wind advisories at the peak. I was once lifted off the ground by high winds when I was a kid. Not hardly at all, but it'll still spook you.

Ray Lewis' reply to the reporter about the murders was about like Obama trying to speak without his teleprompter.

People with PTSD should not even be around guns.

You have to hand it to Beyond-crape.
She did a great halftime performance when you consider what a task it is to combine lameness with rudeness.

I didn't know Chris Kyle, but I have acquaintances that did. They say he was a great guy, so I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. No doubt, his death was a tragedy.

But, donating the $ from his book sales does not mean that he didn't capitalize from it. Notoriety. Prestige. Name-recognition. If you think his training and security company, didn't benefit from his book sales, you are mistaken. Craft International http://www.thecraft.com/

I'm not saying that is bad...it just is. Monetizing your success is pretty American.

I understand that Beyonce didn't take a fee for last night's performance. But, she cashed in.

I know a great many liberal weenies who served their country with honor and distinction.

I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MUCH HAPPINESS TO SEE ALL THE LITTLE GIRLS FACES OF JOY AT THE DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE. THE ATTENDANCE WAS ABOUT DOUBLE THE EXPECTED ATTENDANCE.
CHEF

The daddy daughter dance was great this year, huge turnout. I thought the DJWC did a great job, especially considering they had twice as many there as expected. My only complaint was one music selection (Flo-rida's "Low" which includes a line about giving that big booty a slap,) and a few of the prize choices. In the past, the raffle prizes have all been things for young girls. This year's prizes included wine tasting, dinners for two at Sweetie Pie's and Rock City, bleacher chairs, massages, etc. Not that I would've minded winning some of those, but I wasn't there to win prizes for me. On a whole, though, great night. Looking forward to next year.

Now there are going to be a lot more flaming liberal weenies that will serve their country alongside women while they frolick on the battle field.

10:29- Agreed. My daughter is still talking about it. Good Job Decatur Junior Woman's Club!

I've criticized the "world's deadliest sniper" by trying to capitalize on his military service by writing a book

Be a man Barry. Put your name on a response and tell us all what he should have done? Who should have "capitalized"? Should it have gone to white collar criminals? Bankrupt ex athletes for baby mama payments?

He did his duty for his country. You have absolutely NO clue the skills this man has.

I know....how about another stupid book on a "fallen hero" who got his you know what caught in a you know what and how he has repented and become a better man.

Dissapointing.

that guy said...

did 11:12 anonymously criticize someone by saying, "be a man Barry Put your name on a response..."

or was Dissapointing his/her name

Like him and agree with him or not, Chris Kyle was, and always will be, an American Hero! The job of a sniper is pretty lonely and very dangerous, and this man performed his duty in that job with valor and honor. I don't really care if he benifited financially in any way from his years of service to our country because he and his family deserved whatever gain they could obtain from it, for all the time they spent apart because of it. The fact that the proceeds from his book all went to help Wounded Warriors just says that much more about this man and credentials as a true hero. He never stopped giving.

Anonymous said...

Has any politician ever profited by serving his country?

Three points I would like to make about your blog today...

1. Yes you have seen Shannon Hood on previous Court Dockets. He is a repeat offender and I think that should be taken into account if/when he goes to trial for this last offense!

2. I enjoyed the Super Bowl commercials as always this year. Far better than the half-time show! I particularly enjoyed the male exploitation for a change! Instead of suffering through one by Victoria's secret, the women were treated to a breath-taking new one by Calvin Klein for their new men's "Concept"! Neither of which is appropriate, as is the scantily clad women on your blog since you have women readers as well, but it was indeed a nice change, however hypocritical that might sound! Anyway, My favorites... The Farmer, Budweiser's, and Jeeps tribute... although Oprah was a bad choice! Regardless, It paid tribute to our military! Which brings me to my last ...

3. Again, in the midst of mourning a great hero, you mention your previous critical comments of Chris Kyle, the world's deadliest sniper and his book. These did not define the man, although it certainly could have. He served 4 tours of duty... how many have you served? He did not profit from his book. He helped warriors coming home with PTSD. And he died trying to help one! It was part of PTSD therapy, and a tragedy. He founded a non-profit organization and helped countless veterans. You should be ashamed to even remind us you took such a critical stance against a real life Hero!
Just when I think you might be showing signs of being "a warm blooded human", you disappointment again! Shame on you!

10:57 - there are gifts that appeal to the girls, the Dads AND things for Moms. My daughter loves trying to win "gifts" for me.

All money go towards local charities so the more they make the more they can give!

Goog job DDJC! It was a great success.

Best half-time show ever!

Daddy/daughter dancing is perverted and gross! Dancing is a form of sexual expression. Who would even think that dumb idea up in the first place?

Being a liberal is an odd sort of political philosophy to ascribe to but Hagel took the cake. He showed how genuinely indefensible liberalism truly is.

I had a bad feeling about the Kaufman County thing when the only 2 little bits of info we had at the end of that first day conflicted- with each other.

Anyway, good riddance and we're off to a good start.

Despite anyone's feelings about how Chris Kyle lived his life, we should all be joined in our support of the fact that he jacked up Jesse Ventura for running his mouth.

Daddy Daughter dance - Who give's a red rat's ass?

Anonymous said...

11:00, no not everyone publishes to make money but those that do don't need criticism for it!

Besides, this blog is not anywhere close to the talent it takes to write an interesting story that people will purchase.

Just sayin...

Anonymous said...

Chris Kyle published his book for self-glorification. 9:59 described it perfectly. He did indeed "cash in" on his service.

Is it sad he was killed? Yes. Was he wrong to write the book? Yes, again. There were procedures and protocol in place to cover publishing SEAL stories and he ignored them. He dishonored the SEALs and their traditions.

Beyonce is young, beautiful, and talented. Better than the previous halftime shows by: Janet J, Prince, Madonna, Paul M, Stones, Bruce S, Blackeyed Peas, and Tom P.

The dance was a colossal waste of money by self absorbed mothers dressing their dolls.

I'm betting 10$ the RTG just pee in the lake. As far as Ray Lewis goes he's just a Hood Rat Nigger and always will be one never a hall of fame type player. He should still be in Jail. Chris Kyle is and always will be a HERO for what he did in war and for people after the war.

Anonymous said...

Shannon Hood and his nephew, Shannon Hood (yes they have the same name), have been on several court dockets over the past several years!!

Anonymous said...

1. I had to look up who Ray Lewis was.

2. I agree with Rage. The Guadalupe Mountains are gorgeous in the fall. I particularly recommend McKittrick canyon as an afternoon hike with the family. Few people visit the Guadalupes. I urge you to go.

3. "Wrong way driver on I-30 in Fort Worth last night caused the death of two people." That's why we put those DWIs in jail. I don't look down on you for defending them, but I wish you'd quit belittling those of us who try to take them off the road, to prevent the deaths of ours (and your) loved ones, BG.

4. Having attended a Daddy-Daughter Dance, I can tell you that it's mostly a bunch of dads that care for their kids, trying not to make eye contact with other dads, whilst scooting boots and trying hard not to step on little toes. Anyone who tries to sexualize such an event has clearly never swayed and bounced their infant as they sang her a lullaby and walked around the house in the middle of the night.
12:39 has got to be trolling.

2:02, if it's not interesting why are reading it? Plus, you wouldn't purchase it, you would be brainwashed into buying whatever is advertized, if there were advertisements. And a percent of it would go to the Blogger.

12:39 is a mother who has lost custody of her kids.

Daddy daughter dance is a joke. Some fathers have sons, and want to dance too. We need to start a petition like the boy scouts.
