"The fold" reminds me....

How did your pedophile case go this week?

I have to ask. Would you have been happy if the defendant would have been found not guilty? what if you know that he is guilty and still get off? Do you get satisfaction then also?. By the way, I do not judge what you do, everyone has the right to been defended in a court of law, you maybe not the most popular guy in the court room, yet you play an vital part in our justice system just like the judge and prosecutor. My question is based more on your inner self, then the professional aspect of your job.

Time for a few good candidates to file for school board.
The change process needs to continue

Yeah.
The ole court-appointed pays well.

Now his inner-self is laughing at 11:38.

Getting accused of Continuous Sexual Assault Of A Child Under 14 is dammmit serious. I'm a cop, and I personally am proud of myself when I put such people in prison. That's my job.

Barry Green is a defense attorney, and makes the State prove up this incredibly grave charge. In this case, Barry successfully raised enough doubt that the accused was only convicted of a lesser charge. Yeah, I've got to believe that he feels pretty good. And, as a cop? I don't have disdain for him for that. I don't want to live in a nation where a person is found guilty simply because I said so.

RHOME GOT APAID FIRE DEPARTMENT! FRONT PAGE NEWS! LMAO! THE TWO COUNCIL MEMBERS THAT VOTED IT AGAINST IT WILL BE THE FIRST ONES TO HAVE HEART ATTACKS AND NOONE WILL ANSWER THE TONES, EVEN WITH THE BONUS MONEY. IT IS ABOUT TIME SOME NEW BLOOD DID SOME GOOD FOR THE TOWN, BECAUSE THE OLD ONES THAT KEEP RUNNING FOR COUNCIL DUE TO HAVING NO FRIENDS, ARE ALWAYS MAKING RHOME LOOK LIKE SHIT.

I know zilch about the law, but don't think a lawyer has any choice if he/she is "appointed" to a case involving child molestation.

But they DO have a choice if somebody walks into their office and asks them to defend a charge involving sexual abuse of an innocent child.

Greed? Or just weird?

He love Obama. That tells you all you need to know about him

I like the Saudi Arabian system of justice. It works to prevent new and repeat offenders.

EmmGee, incest has no benefit to the gene pool, and I agree with what you said above. The law must be followed. But is the law right? We are now sexually mature at around 12, but we will never be mentally mature before we are sexually mature. Natures way of getting a whole lot of babies. Would you bust your best friend for smoking pot? This is a question I was asked. And I said yes, just to get the job.

So our county tax dollars paid for a horse and pony show in Austin? Lost time, food and lodging paid for by special interest groups and double dipped for lost time on the tax payers dime. Think this will be an ethics violation and another black eye for our elected leaders.

1:01, yes. Anyone that will live in a mansion, just because others have done it, are pretenders at taxpayer expense. More at Ghandi

1:01 - I agree with you. Having attended one of those legislative days, it really IS nothing more than a fancy hotel, milling around making small talk at a reception with the senator and legislator dropping by to smile in hopes of getting re-elected and recognition on the house floor. So?

A couple of days of time and tax payer money waste.

And boring to boot.

The Rhome fire department doesn't need any help making the town look like shit.

Maybe they'll put JM in charge of the narcs.

The thing about turf they don't tell you is the harm it does to athletes. Traditionally games were played on grass. The clorofilical transformation in natural plants raises the ambient oxygen level approximately 3%. The increased oxygen supply evolutionized athletes to function most effectively at those levels. When they are then put on artificialized turf, their bodies respond by using all available oxygen for physical exertion, depriving the brain of its critical supply. Many of those affected have lost the ability to conjugate the verb "to be". Others confuse inquiring about a given subject with instuments for felling trees.

We need to think of the children. Stop this turfication madness. Bestow upon the next generation the best posteriority possible.

Act now. Act often.

Stop the madness

So how about it Barry??? Were you court appointed or was defending the man that sexually assaulted his daughter a paying customer?

Was there an option for you?

I am certain I would like your take on the matter of defense attorney in such situation and I feel strongly other readers would as well.

I am also aware you received a lot of Flack on this blog, but is it not self-inflicted? You could shut it down. It must take a lot of thick skin to read such things? I know how much hatred police officers receive when they wear the badge and uphold the laws. Some can do an honorable job, some give the badge a bad name.

So do you chose to defend these citizens of questionable crimes for the dollar, or because you must out of court appointment, or is simply the thrill of the "game". A battle of wits to win at all costs?

What is inside the heart of Barry Green, Attorney at Law? Inquiring minds want to know.

Nope.
Most of us don't care.

Rhome looked like shit before the Fire Department ever went paid, usually because of some off the wall stuff some council member wanted to push. From the looks of the article, and the column written by the reporter who covered the story, that Alderperson Pittman is doing a fine job for the town and should be commended. The ones who have served more than one term do indeed need to be taken out with the trash.

Hey 6:26;

Bet you wouldn't soil your hands for money providing the one service that separates this country from others, would you? Your kind sent Jews to the gas chambers and Russian dissidents to the gulage. You make the accusations on Facebook, Twitter, or the outhouse wall, then run and hide when confronted. I hope someday someone draggs your sorry pompus ass in front of a jury, guilty or innocent, just so you personally understand what it means to have and need an advocate. You have no idea what the words justice and liberty truely mean. Go live among citizens who fear the Taliban or the Sunnis or the Shiites before you start in on someone willing to accept the responsiblity of providing legal defense, whether by appointment or choice. MORON!!!

6:26 - it doesn't matter. Lawyers attempt to ensure the accused get a fair trial - regardless of the charges. Cops arrest those they believe broke the law. Trials reveal the evidence. Juries decide the degree of guilt or dismiss if not convinced. It's a slow and imperfect process but it is designed to protect the innocent and convict based upon the evidence. All accused - even the bad guys get their day in court. Lawyers attempt to ensure they (and you) are protected from abuse of the law.

The whole damn paper is Rhome related, and makes me want to cancel! Rhome sex offender, Rhome fire haters on the council with blood on their hands, and the only town not represented in Austin besides Newark at the Wise County delegation. It gets old reading about why no one wants to volunteer there, but anybody familiar with the crooked town knows why.

Is that Mr Herbert looking guy who gardens in his underwear on the council or fire department?

So, why does that one guy on the second row NOT have his hand over his heart like everyone else? Obviously they were playing The National Anthem or reciting the Pledge of Allegience.

PURE CLASS!

11:21 - Yes, the law is designed to protect the innocent and obviously we can all identify with a lawyer who "SINCERELY" thinks his/her client is innocent.

However, what are the stats of those accused of this versus those who are actual perpetrators?

When I was a child, a church janitor in a Baptist church molested me. These folks look for ways to be near children. Lawyers know this as well as any ordinary citizen. Just how many cases actually involve a person who has been wrongfully accused?

Somebody give us statistics. I'd just venture to say, "very few"...............

And I think a lawyer who has been sexually abused as a child would have one hell of a time defending a client of such a horrendous crime.

Just thoughts. Any others?
