Thanksgiving Annual Message

As this post appears, I'll be in a mass of bodies at a Turkey Trot. This year, for the first time ever, I'm doing it in Fort Worth instead of Dallas. It's a 10K instead of 8 miles. A little shorter run. A little shorter drive. Perhaps the first signal that I'm slowing down.

And that brings us to Thanksgiving and my annual call back to this post, a favorite of the Liberally Lean readers,  that I put up seven years ago. . You know, I love going back to it. It is still true. And it t needs to be read slowly -- the way it was written.

Thanks to all of you for this crazy little club we have.

Happy Thanksgiving! Please don't let your side ban it from public observance.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and to all your family. Having also grown up in Bridgeport, that nostalgic tie to your family -- back to your grandparents and the store that I still miss, makes me happy that you recall your roots. It's too easy to forget!

Have a good one, Counselor. This blog, while I rarely respond, is my must-do read every night after work in dreaded Fort Worth, and my barn chores. This is the real Wise County.

I took these moments for granted until my Mom was diagnosed with cancer and then my wife. Fast forward a few years, I sit at holidays across the table from my mother, next to my wife. Yes, I'm thankful indeeed.

Dear Bubear...

Happy Thanksgiving.

It is my perception that you've grown a lot over the last couple of years. The marriage, the kids, the dog seem to have smoothed you out(emotionally speaking).

I think you may be qualified to be called....a grownup.

But don't let this get to your head, you'll still need to sit on a couple of phone books at the Thanksgiving dinner table because even though you've grown emotionally, you are still vertically challenged.

Double Fake the Family Cat

PS Steve and Lorie, (your favorite Peewee Football cheerleader) wish you and the Fam all the best. Say hi to the Chief, Mrs. Chief and WSG.
