Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • Wow: Newsweek will go all digital at the end of the year. The print version of the magazine will be dead.
  • Liberally Lean will do the same.
  • The same bar (I think) where Josh Hamilton allegedly got drunk and had a tryst was also the location of a murder/robbery last night. Victim is 20. Suspect fled.
  • A trooper shot a DWI suspect in Dallas last night as he drove away. (But there was an altercation before he took off.)
  • This article is long (and very Dallas Observer like) but if you think you might be interested in a reporter spending a few days with the very wheels off Democrat nominee for DA in Houston, you'll really like it. And, due to straight ticket voting, there's a chance he might win in November.
  • I'm having a full physical this morning. If I told you the last time that happened you'd personally escort me there to make sure it happens.
  • I think I might actually have a personal escort.
  • The "local" Tea Party in Wise County has disbanded?
  • From Facebook this morning: "Since when did Attorney Consultations become $75 or more.. Is it a Decatur thing or what! Geeze I remember when it was free. WTH."  Probably depends if it is just a one-time meeting for advice or if it is an initial meeting to determine if it will lead to long term representation.
  • Those anti-Wendy Davis ads are just weird.
  • I dreamed I was bullied in McDonalds by three guys. That is also weird.
  • Someone wrote about hearing gunshots in Bridgeport last night around 9:00 p.m.
  • A small reference about Bridgeport, Texas in a New Mexico paper.
  • Kind of a slow news day. If you don't believe me, take a look at today's Update.

Josh got his torpedo polished in Addison, not North Park. Fact Checking.

Where has Hal Jay? I haven't heard him on WBAP for few days.

Well, let's tap those brakes some on that unemployment report that came out one day before the last presidential debate. Seems there was one state that hadn't reported, and the administration knew it, but went with the incorrect figures after all. Really? This administration NOT telling the truth about something that important? WAKE UP, AMERICA!

The "local" Tea Party in Wise County has disbanded?

Well yeah they just had one of their election judges tossed out for voter fraud.

Anonymous said...

Are those chicks migrant workers? They look like a couple of Hoers.

It's shot at, as in the tires were shot out, not shot, as the suspect was shot.

The trooper shot at the dumb drunk Messicans tires, not at "HIM". Get your s*** together BG

8:43, Come to think of it, I haven't heard any wheezing on WBAP either.

On December 21 2012 Newsweek Magazine will be slightly delayed.

8:58, and this guy was doing it right at Rhome City Hall, under the noses of city staff! I have had it with that town and it's fraud! Everyone should call the Courthouse and demand they move polling back to New Fairview. They don't have the fraud and corruption that Rhome does. Besides, you will save yourself from being pulled over by police for being "suspicious", when driving around trying to find the polls.

BG, your anti-trooper bias is showing. The troop did not shoot the suspect. He shot out the tires on his vehicle.

The guy caught with voter fraud has many local elderly in his church. if you have elderly in your family who is a member of his church, ask them if he gave them a ballot.

RTG: WOW!! What a pair, love them both! AAA+++ thanks BG!

I gave you the heads-up on the anti-Wendy ads a few days ago. The odd part is that they accuse her of one thing, then make a totally different point about her opponent. It bounces from one disconnected point to another

The grafitti on today's RTGs is a little distracting, but I bet it can be easily, um...rubbed out?
Yeah, the one on the right should have the same cup size as the other one - looks like about 20 ounces?

Did anyone mention yet that the trooper didn't shoot the suspect - he shot his tire?

"And now Mr. Green, we always save this portion of the exam for the, uh, end" *glove snap*

Someone on facebook thinks he "remembers" when lawyers worked for free?!?!?!

Sorry, fella, but I AM one of them lawyers, and if every conference was free, I'd be having nothing but free conferences all day long.

Don't get me wrong. I don't charge for every "conference" I have. But if I spend a half hour or more giving useful "advice" to someone that I know they are going to go use to their advantage, yes, that is worth $75.00. Don't think so? Go to Dallas and pay for the same conference and see how much THEIR bill is.

Anonymous said...

Conferences are overrated.

A friend of mine went for an annual checkup with another friend of ours which was a doctor, knowing there would be a prostate exam. Before he went, he mixed peanut butter and corn together and smeared it between his cheeks. When our friend (the doctor) told him to bend over...
It was hilarious.

What about Romney's comments concerning red employers influencing their employees votes?

Veiled threats from the Kochs to their employees about consequences if Romney loses is sure unethical.

You need to wake up. Your points are boring and irrelevant. Nothing will change until money is out of Congress (campaign finance reform), the U.S. adopts a multi-decade approach to both domestic and international policy, and the American people begin take responsibility for their own livelihood. The talk of job creation is irrelevant as a long term solution, as constant growth is unsustainable.

By the way, these are not new ideas and I am not claiming to have created them.

Local Democrats are so concerned about one Republican judge providing filled out sample ballots to a few voters in the Republican Primary that they almost planned a walk-out (bluflu) on the General Election day if the Republican judge was not removed as presiding judge. They blame the County Judge and the elections administrator for failure to take action.

Why do Democrats care what goes on in the opposition party's election?

The Elections Administrator did not appoint the judge for the primary; the Repuplican Executive committee appointed the judges (not the County Commissioners or the County Judge)

The Elections Administrator contracts separatly with each County Chair to train elections workers, provide voting machines and count/verify the vote. Each Political party has a presiding judge and clerks that work their elections sharing voting equipment and polling locations.

Seems to me the Democrats are concerned more about bashing Republicans and blaming the wrong publica officials than the election process.

12:45 Thank you.

Can't wait until people vote straight ticket in favor of Republicans in November.

Yeah, really, when did attorneys start charging money for services? And why is it that when I go to McDonald's and want a double cheeseburger, they make me pay them money?

Messing with ballots at any time by anyone for any reason is wrong, no matter the party or election involved.

Anonymous said...

It's not election fraud unless Democrats do it.

Dems made the Bridgeport Index with their election fraud accusations. What appears to be the problem is the Democrats are allowing the Republicans to be the presiding judge in their Democratic primary elections!!!

They need to take care of their own election by following the election code making their own judges the presiding judge!

Share the voting equipment and the polling locations; nothing more!!!

Anonymous said...

5:06, if they would just move polling locations out of Rhome, and back the the newark Fire Hall, this kind of BS and fraud would go away. Rhome has too many infractions of the law with their own city employees, and people are tired of being pulled over by the police in Rhome because they are not from there, when they go to vote.

Anonymous said...

5:26 Ballots were not compromised because electronic voting equipment was used. The Republican judge was as reported telling his famlly members how to vote by filling out a sample ballot for them to use when they came in to vote Republican, not in the Democratic primary. Yes, it is wrong because he should have told them before they came into the precinct voting location. A voter can bring a list of candidates with them into the voting booth, but a judge or election worker can not tell them how to vote!

It is a violation and he should have been removed or stopped the day of the primary. A simple call to the Elections Administrator or to the County Chair would have taken care of it.

If the Democrats had any problem with him serving as Presiding Judge during the General election, they could have a poll watcher present or ask he be removed as judge for the reported violation.

3;42, we are talking about Wise County! He was doing more than just the ballots, his conduct and comments were unbecoming of a judge. Keep your opinions to yourself. I was shocked to see this gentleman at the Rhome city hall polls. making political comments. The other Judge was ansering questions and not thowing opinions. He needed to go, he was badgering voters and giving the City of Rhome a bad name. I could care less about his fraud of pre filled ballots, just him running his mouth about politics. We go there to vote, not hear Rush Limbaugh. The civic center will get my vote this year, not Rhome. I do not care what side he was on, no R or D should act like that.

3:42, it was reported, read the article...nothing was done!
