Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • I wonder if any Wise County pastor took part in "pulpit freedom" Sunday by endorsing a particular candidate. I would think the answer would be "no".
  • The small plane crash that killed members of that Southlake family was simply awful. I fear the small plane.
  • All heck broke out this weekend in MLB when the "infield fly rule" was called when a ball was hit to the outfield. Apparently most people didn't know, including me, that the rule can be invoked when a ball can be "caught by an infielder with ordinary effort". It doesn't say that the infielder has to be in the infield, however.
  • There was a Denton DWI "Hey, now" on Saturday followed by another one.
  • TCU learned they weren't in the Mountain West this weekend. Even lowly Iowa State can put up a fight.
  • Someone posted a picture of Mount Rushmore this weekend. I don't know what it is about the photo, but it stopped me down as I thought about how amazing that monument is.
  • Mrs. LL participated in some "mud run" this weekend.    And I think she wore at tu-tu while she did it.
  • Ticket Fans: If you haven't seen a cross dressing Junior Miller interrupt Channel 8's morning show, you can do so here. (He walks across the screen in the beginning and reappears at 1:06). Edit: Link fixed.
  • The doberman is gone. And the Family Cat acts like she has been released from prison.
  • Saw a kid in high school bobble the snap as the holder on a game tying extra point in the final seconds this weekend. I must be getting old, because all I could think about was how awful I felt for him.
  • That three part series in the Star-Telegram on the alleged murder of a Fort Worth attorney is pretty good. But the site is weird: I read part one yesterday without any trouble but this morning it is behind a paywall.

DWI Hey Now girls:

Dark haired girl doesn't look drunk, she should go to trial. She'll walk.

The blonde looks like she was doing shots in the back seat of the police car on the way to the station. Hopefully she can get a plea bargain.

Your TCU comment - Oh so predictable Barry!! Could it be that they lost their quarterback this week. Stupid quarterback but good none the less!!

Check the Junior Miller link. It takes the user to the plane crash.

Great pastors endorse Biblical principles which any conscious voter could make an intelligent decision.

You are so right about Mount Rushmore, Barry. I went to see it this past year and I was still looking back as I walked to the car.

check your links. 2 or 3 no good.

It's rare indeed that I cheer for the IRS, but I hope they make all of those churches playing politics pay taxes at the top rate. I'm guessing once his church has to pay a several $100K in taxes, Brother Harris might "hear the call" to head to a smaller church with a lower salary.

Go IRS!

I don't think Pastors should be endorsing political candidates from the pulpit. Mine doesn't. When one of them loses their tax exempt status maybe the rest of them will think twice about it.

The Rules are the rules and certainly 9:16 is right to want them enforced against those churches trying to twist the arms of congregationsl voters; however,9:02 is spot on: great pastors preach the Bible and in the upcomming election, you've got one sorry excuse of a human being who spent over a decade listening to the hate of the Right Reverand Wright, who endorses gay marriage and spends alot of time warning Israel about losing American Support in the middle east, and another guy who actually pastored a church withut preaching hate towards those with opposing viewpoints, tried to reach out to others in need, doesn't support gay marriage and has vowed support of Israel. You don't need to have a preacher tell you which one to vote for if you are a Believer.

DWI links seem to be not working for me

I just read yesterday that Paul Ryan had a good looking black girlfriend in college. (She later embezzled $77,000 from her big three accounting firm employer, but that's not my point...)

Anyway, it gave me pause....I think maybe Mitt should take a black woman as his second wife. The Mormans wouldn't mind all that much, as they still wink at that sort of thing, AND think of the minority votes he might collect.

There is an added benefit to Mitt doing this...if he had a little "baby got back" he might relax a little and not be so quick to push the little red button if he were elected. Just think, if "W" had this, we might have avoided the Iraq war.

Right 9:54, check the box next to the guy with Magic Underwear b/c plain and simple, God wants the President of the U.S. to support Israel, even if it's not good for the U.S.

Vote Israel! Vote Magic Underwear!

I was hoping a choir member would "Nestor", Junez.

They (the choir) were horrible though weren't they?

It is only big news when the Preachers endorse Republicans. If you think for a second that your "Traditional Black Churches" did not endorse Obama in 2008, you are crazy. He even gave a nice little speech in Rev. Wright's church, which is the one spoke about recently where Obama adopted his fake Southern accent, if that is not endorsing a candidate, I do not know what is. As long as you are endorsing the candidate the Press wants to win, it is OK.

I agree that a good pastor preaches from the Bible and needs not get involved with politics.

For instance, yesterday the sermon at my church was taken from 1 John. And it is plain to see by that that the only possible vote that a Christian can make is for Obama. Romney has said that he will write off 47% of Americans. That is far from the teachings of Christ, and far from walking in the light. I cannot imagine how a Christian can vote for a candidate who wants to put millions of Americans back at risk for their health and their food and shelter, just because he wants a free market system that is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible. What is mentioned is taking care of your fellow man, and even our Constitution demands we provide for the general welfare.

Pretty simple, and any real Christian can see it.

Rage, Give it a rest and quit trying to take over Chris Mathew's job. He has it pretty well locked up. Now I might watch if you were to take over for Rachel Maddow.

Anonymous said...

Rage, Tell that to your fellow weenies at the Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Anonymous said...

Rage,

Once again, you prove you are a dumbass.

"Romney has said that he will write off 47% of Americans.<

You are a liar. He said that the 47% of voters that are on the government dole, pay no taxes, will vote for Obama. He did NOT say he would not represent them.

And you write of Wordkyle lying?

"That is far from the teachings of Christ, and far from walking in the light. I cannot imagine how a Christian can vote for a candidate who wants to put millions of Americans back at risk for their health and their food and shelter, just because he wants a free market system that is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible."

What is NOT mentioned in the Bible is shifting YOUR responsibilities to take care of the poor, onto the government. Nowhere in the Bible does it state that we must give to an inefficient government, to take care of the poor. Individuals and churches can do it much better, and more efficiently.

Stop LYING.

"What is mentioned is taking care of your fellow man"

Yes, individuals taking care...NOT government. The federal government will fail, every time.

"and even our Constitution demands we provide for the general welfare."

If that is what the constitution means by general welfare, then, why did the founders not set up a federal welfare system? You are too easy.

You really are a liar, and a dumbass.

Latest polls have the race tied, or Romney up by 2.

How about them Eagles of DHS Decatur watches you!

LLDQFan said...

Rage, you are an idiot. The 47% comment was relative to Romney getting their vote, not relative to whether or not they should get welfare. Look at their donations to charity. Biden and Obama suck at donations to charity. Course, they expect the government to take of that, so why should they contribute, right?

Walk away from any preacher or other person that tells you who you should vote for because their "religion" says so.

God isn't some "magic 8 ball" that just spits out answers. He made us all big boys and girls with grey stuff between the ears. Use it and pick the candidate you think would be best.

12:05 -- right on!

All you have to do is watch Republicans and the comedy writes itself. Democrats are pretty much fools and crooks too, they're just not such complete dorks.

Regarding Israel:
It is a real shame most folks can't think for themselves and swallow whatever is thrown at them.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say we need to subsidize Israel for $40+ billion a year. Show me the scripture. (Not possible) Bless them all you want, but not with my tax dollars or bonds sold to China.
Real friends wouldn't let us do that. Anyway, it's purtnear budgetary nut cutting time and we can't afford foreign aid to anybody, much less assholes like the Isrealis.

The 47% includes everyone receiving any funding from the government. So, it includes:

Army
Navy
Air Force
Marines
FBI
Federal Judges
Homeland Security
ATF

Freeloaders! Who needs em?

You should continue voting for Obama. He's more your speed.

I predict the root cause of the small plane crash in Terrel will be a VFR pilot operating in IFR conditions.

11:17 you apparently havnt read the bible. its full of free enterprise, read leviticus. it also say if a man wont work neither should he eat.

i understand that some cant work, and should be taken care of.

but even in acts where they shared all things, it was never under compulsion. and if you read history you would know that the socialist system practiced in the first church was a dismal failure, the other churches were continually having to send money to them so they wouldnt starve.
