Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

  • Prosecutors vs. Tea Party? A proposed bill (with Wise County ties) that would allow Justices of the Peace to issue search warrants for blood and other evidence got killed big time near the end of the legislative session when conservatives, of all people, raised Big Government concerns.
  • You know somewhere there was a new boat owner who excitedly gathered up everything and went to the lake this weekend only to realize that high winds and a boat is the ultimate beating.
  • I spent hours working on the Limestone Edging Project for the flower beds. Killing me. But I might have lost my mind when I got to the point where I was filing down the sides of the brick and bought a chisel for more detailed work. Texted Mrs. LL during the middle of it that I think I had the Statue of David just about completed.
  • New home rule: We're not starting a new project until we finish the last one.
  • State Senator Wendy Davis stopped a Texas school budget bill by going into a filibuster as the session wound down so now Texas has no school bill nor a budget. Not sure what that accomplished since a special session, which has already started, will now get it passed.
  • Some say it would be an "injustice" if Dirk Nowitzki does not win an NBA title. If earning $141 million over the course of his career for playing a game is an injustice, then hit me with it.
  • And as tons of local media head to South Beach this week for the NBA Finals, they might want to take note of the gunfight that just took place during "Urban Beach Weekend" on the famous Collins Street. (Six years ago I went to South Beach during that exact same weekend. You could have picked me out even if you didn't know me.)
  • Weird Tony Romo wedding note: The bridesmaids were Cowboy Jason Witten's wife, former Cowboy spare Bobby Carpenter's wife, and Tony Romo's sister. That gal got any friends of her own? (More details.)
  • Former Texas Governor Bill Clements died over the weekend. He had been out of the news forever until last year when ESPN's 30 for 30 on the SMU recruiting scandal came out, and his son became the victim of a bizarre murder
  • The Ticket covered the Decatur Walmart Upskirt Photographer this morning and spent most of the time discussing why in the world he would pick the Decatur Walmart.
  • A couple of folks who probably didn't properly observe Memorial Day weekend: (1) Carrollton man gets into wreck, gets naked, drives off, and then crashes into a tree and dies, or (2) Dallas guy takes drugs (allegedly), talks of walking on water, then drowns in a pond
  • A video of a crazy texting while driving wreck looks more like a drunk driver than a texter. (Language warning.) How someone wasn't killed is amazing.
  • Dreamed the U.S. was under a missile attack. It was so real and so bizarre: You could see the incoming warheads from miles and miles away and then hear the explosions in the distance.
  • The Decatur car/pedestrian collision on Saturday night mentioned in the Update sounds a little weird.

the car pedestrian accident stems from a late night boozefest at a Indian trails residence. Both parties highly intoxicated. Sources say pedestrian was passed out drunk laying in the middle of Preskitt. Driver of car not known for his intelligence.

I saw a hot woman at the Decatur Walmart once....but that was back in 2008 and she was wearing blue jeans.

Enjoy the home projects while you can. In another 10 to 20 years your main projects will be buying groceries, getting the grass mowed and maybe doctors appointments. Simple things now will be a big deal then. So count your blessings and good luck in the future. Get ready for it, old age creeps up on you.

Wendy Davis protects her people. She was very poor once, and looks out for the working class and poor. The rest of us are stuck with King and Estes.

Wendy Davis is a 10!

I agree with bacon, but I would give her a five. I love real ones.

The 2 grader and the 8 grader will have many memorable moments gazing at the statue of David in the flower garden.

We need Wendy Davis to stop these jackasses working on the Rhome Loves from hitting power lines and knocking out all power from 287 to Newark!

I don't think our Walmart pic guy was interested in teeth or tats. He seemed to be searching for another...landscape.

Good for Senator Davis for forcing the discussion, especially about the untapped Governor Perry kickback, I mean, Rainy Day Fund.

Bill Clements was pretty OK. He was very bipartisan, and anything but the father of the modern Texas Republican movement, whom he described as pinheads.

Rage only you would be stupid enough to blow the rainy day fund during economic hardship. If we can survive without tapping the fund (and we can even if you libs think we can't) than we should. Even if that means cutting back. You libs think that just because something makes you feel good money shouldn't matter. I have news for you; when you are broke you stop spending money. And just because you have to cut back doesn't mean you should blow any savings you have set aside. Even dems (i.e. The dem from Dallas) admit that sups and principals in their districts say the budget evil Republicans tried to pass was acceptable and could be worked within. And no response is necessary rage as I can already predict that it will closely parrot the party line of "what about the kids"? or "the only way to improve education is to throw more money at it than we have". No surprises from you rage aka far right war vet with multiple PhDs.

What the hell do you think it's for? Do you know what a rainy day is? You save money now, for when you don't have it later. You know, for a rainy day? At up to $27 billion in deficit, it sounds like a rainy day.

You must be one of mzchief's home-schooled morons.

Barry, can you get us a swimsuit picture of Senator Davis?

I, too, thought the bridesmaid selection was very odd. Wasn't she ever in a sorority? That's red flag No. 2. The first red flag is that she's just 24 years old. The third red flag is that she, Jessica Simpson and Carrie Underwood could all be sisters. Think Tony has a "type"? True love. Sure.

The 7 billion in the rainy day fund came from the federal stimulus program.

1230 here Rage. I see you have resorted to your typical name calling. I realize a rainy day fund is there for rainy days but as I said before if you can get by without using it than why would you want to use it. To continue entitlement programs. But I know from past experience that you can not be brought out of the fantasy world you live in. Quick rage use every dime of the rainy day fund. No worries Obama's gonna fix everything. Wait, what's that you say? Unemployment is still through the roof? The economy is still staggering along? We can't get gas prices down because we keep putting a strangle hold on energy at home and we import an outrageous amount of oil? Obama's energy plan is a flop? Well I'm sure all that will change if we just keep him in office. It's all Bush's fault anyway so we can't hold any of it against Obama. Given that outlook I would say make budget cuts and save the rainy day fund for a future true emergency.

1:50 My Other Brother Darryl, you can wear white clothing anytime of the year. The fashion rule is you should not wear white shoes until after Memorial Day, nor after Labor Day. However, people do what they want to these days, so lighten up bubba.

Anonymous said...

Your girl today should be to told her bikini is too small for her boobs and tooter. It's tacky in my opinion.

Anonymous said...

6:31,
Shut your mouth! There is no such thing as a bikini that is too small...with the exception of those who shouldn't be wearing them anyway, all swim ware is too small.

Anonymous said...

Actually, white shoes are acceptable between Easter and Labor Day.
