Movie Talk

Alice in Wonderland just grossed $116 million over the weekend? You've got to be kidding. Why is it every time Johnny Depp tricks himself up (Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd), it turns into box office gold? Just finished The Hurt Locker. It's Good. I won't go so far as to say Very Good because it's pretty much a big screen version of HBO's Generation Kill. Academy Awards tonight: A show that takes three hours which could be done well in less than half the time.

Can't be done in much less time, really. There is a lot going on behind the scenes, switches, gig loads and shifts that take a while. Backstage press activity has to be gapped. Other reasons. Only way to make it much shorter is to reduce the number of awards given or change drastically the presentations and media activity. People generally tune in to see all that and then complain it takes too long. Can't have both.

We're all doomed.

Depp is run and interesting to watch. Why is that so hard to understand? Matter of taste I guess.

Saw it today...good movie. Tim Burton is genius.

Hurt Locker was recognized tonight as a little better than just good. I am suspicious that your less than enthusiastic review is because it didn't waste it's time making a Hollywood, leftist, political infomercial as you've grown to expect.

Johnny Depp is greatness, pure and simple. He's one of the handfull of Hollywood types that when you see his name in the credits you know you will get your money's worth and then some.

Normally I shy away from (modern) Disney films, but this one is on my list of must see.

4:13 - right on. All the hard bodies, fake smiles, gaudy dress, back slapping, etc..........SO boring. And in ten years nobody will remember who got what and the little trophy will sit on some fireplace mantle and gather dust.

Beauty pageants are no different, however plastic surgeons all over the world can count on future business.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

1:09, I agree. He is one of the sexiest men God ever created. What I'd give for just one night

Lewis Carroll was a freak....it wouldn't have done to leave him alone with the little kids.
