So you thought Texans loved their guns? Not so fast. Texas is only one of three states that does not allow openly carried handguns. (And look at all those blue states that allow it even without a license.)

I love Texas but the lawmakers here are behind the times and controlling.
Barry, you're taking all the fun out of getting robbed. If a drug crazed idiot has a choice to make between a person he can SEE is carrying a gun, and one who might not be, he's always going to go after the guy who might not be...and in Texas, chances are good he might just be wrong. Of course we love our weaponry, but we like us a good killin' even better. Don't be such a wet balnket.
Saw that in Time and my jaw dropped. Living in Massachusetts, I know that the map is not accurate. Safe to say that the Brady Campaign isn't an unbiased authority on this issue.
I'd be willing to bet the number of households in Texas with guns is exponentially higher than most of those "open" states, both proportionally and in actual numbers.
5:10 - Exactly. Failure of a Texas CHL holder to properly conceal his or her handgun can result in permit suspension/revocation, or charges being filed.
An attempt was made last legislative session to allow a provision for open carry (mainly to mitigate the burden of absolute concealment), but it didn't get much traction.
Texans are smarter. You don't know who is carring in Texas. Could be only one or could be the whole bunch. The important fact is how many carry concealed compared to how many carry open.

My daddy always told me the only good lawmaker was the one staring at the end of gun!
On December 21 2012 you won't be able to buy a gun.

So, if I get a Texas CHL, am I required to CONCEAL the gun at all times? That's what this would indicate.

Only two credibility gaps I can see: TIME Magazine, and Brady Campaign.
Other than that, should be accurate information.

Ya think maybe that's why it's called a "CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSE"?

What does an open gun law have to do with guns in the household?
Apples and oranges.
If everyone had a side arm everyone would mind thier manners...as it stands only those without a side arm have to mind thier manners.
P.S. Manners aren't something you use for bait to fish with.
