- He was 32 and died after running the half marathon -- my race of choice.
- From the comments below the story, he was a former Texas Tech baseball player
- And his name was Mark Austry which is very close to Wise County JP Mark Autry.
- And if this following image is him (taken from a Facebook page of someone with that name who graduated from Tech in 2000), doesn't that break your heart?

If about 2,000 runners collapsed and died during or after running each major marathon in this country, bet we'd find a way to stop having marathons. But we can't stop drunk driving, which kills more than that each year.
That was horrible.
check into Arlington Heights HS 1996 Championship Baseball team...looks like same guy
Lots of excitement on Walnut street right down from Noah's ark. Possible old live bomb.
Hey any idea what's going on across from the noahs ark pet shop? I just passed by there and there is a house sounded in yellow crime scene tape! Cops and firetruck! Tons of people across the road in the noahs ark parking lot. Looking on. Looks interesting.
Nevermind, all clear at Walnut. Denton Bomb Squad took the "culprit" away. Whew!!
Take heart, counselor. Proximity does not mean causality. People drop dead doing all kinds of things. A certain percentage will die before, during or after exercise. (Although it is true that Jim Fixx also died right after running...)
My daddy always told me only run if you have too.
guess he should have mixed in some fartlick training
