Evil Empire Spawn Drops Ball

I saw Limus Sweed, former UT receiver, drop this ball yesterday. The fact he screwed up made the clip fairly noteworthy, but the icing on the cake was what came afterwards. It was the ol' "I Just Messed Up So I Better Act Hurt" routine. But, man, it got him no sympathy from the home crowd. When he finally walked off the field so slowly (to show he was really hurt), he was booed mercilessly. I remember a guy at Bridgeport who would do the same thing. If he ever fumbled you could bet the house he'd be rolling on the ground holding his knee or arm. It was a sure thing.

Don't worry, he got back in good graces with a crunching block a little later.

Good thing the NFL does not use a BCS type system, or the Cardinals would never have had the opportunity to show they actually are the best team in the NFC, on the field.

Reminds me of a kid who played when my son played high school baseball. Upon getting moved to the outfield after giving up multiple walks or bombs, he would cluth his arm and loudly proclaim "My elbow hurts!" His parents in the stands would then bitterly complain about the abuse their son endured at the hands of the coach...

Looks like it was the family jewels. He made up for it later and the big goofy QB could have thrown it a little better. I mean, Sweed did have to stretch a little to catch it. What do you want?

i saw Emmit Smith do the same thing once when he fumbled. Even hall of famers are embarrassed from time to time (not that that makes it right, but just sayin').

Remind me one thing:

How many players from Baylor are currently in the NFL?

10:13 hit it on the head. A BCS system would have had the Cardinals rated about 10th. BCS is a sham pandering to the bowl games.

He did make a really hard hit on Cory Ivy several plays later...Mr. Ivy did not get up very quickly either...I saw Coach Tomlin having a few words with Mr. Sweed after the drop...I wonder what was said...

Well, if parents of some high school players were in control, Coach Tomlin would have said "Let's check and see if you've got a booboo. Hey, it's okay. You did your best and that's all we ask of you. Winning isn't everything. Now, go get some hot chocolate..."

This is known in the coaching world as a "loser's limp".

You can usually predict which ones will implement the "loser's limp" by their parents.
