Border Guards Sentence Commuted

At the very last minute. Background on Wikipedia here. I really don't know much about it other than the right wing has been yelling about this case for years. (And I saw Texas Republican Representative Ted Poe -- a former hang em high judge -- claims on TV that he had read the entire transcript of the trial and say the convictions were a travesty. I remember that because I seriously doubted he read it.)

Yes, good move Mr. President! They should have been given a raise for shooting the thug in the butt instead of being sent to jail.

The border guards have paid with their jobs and some time in jail. The guy Bush needs to consider pardoning are himself, Cheney, Rummy, Rice, Gonzo and a bunch of the other lawbreakers in this administration. Oh yes, according to wordy and Wise Co. rednecks, Bush had no sex with interns so that makes all the other malfeasance ok - right?

125 - I would say you've made quite a leap in logic, except "logic" is too strong a word. So is "thinking." So maybe a "leap in fantasy."

Give examples of malfeasance by Bush, as though you were making your case in a court of law (in honor of our esteemed host.) Malfeasance, not mistakes. You do have evidence to support your accusations, don't you? Otherwise you would come across as simply another no-thinking, lie-spewing, bigoted Bush-hating Liberal. And I'm sure that's not the impression you want to give, is it?

Barry, It wasn't just the conservatives that were asking for the pardons of these two. Diane Feinstein herself asked Bush for the pardons. It is a travesty that that only got commuted sentences and didn't get the pardons. They will now have felony convictions on their records for doing nothing but their jobs.

This was a tough one. The so called victim was a scum bag stoole of the FBI......yet if we are a nation of laws we can't let our vision of character determine how we enforce laws and follow proceedure.
10 yrs was alittle over the top.

Wish BUSH and CO would pardon themselves, or Obama pardon them on the first day in office. We simply don't need the distraction of hearings, findings, special investigations.........once again a tough call considering we are a nation of laws.

Pres Ford took a lot of heat pardoning Nixon, but it was the right (read pragmatic) thing to do.
Hope Obama does the same.

wordy - I realize you have gorged yourself on the right-wing cool-aid, but the Bush administration has stretched, redefined and violated the law throughout the past 8 years. I'll admit I have no legal training but others do. I'm certain you haven’t read "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder" but within that book Vincent Buglosi lays out in legal detail how he would go about trying Bush for murder. Would he get a conviction? We’ll probably never know. The Bush administration now even admits to many "mistakes" but they also committed many clear (to me) violations of domestic and international law and basic morals.

I don't "hate" Bush but I certainly am no fan of this poor fellow. I'm genuinely thankful our republic has survived him and am now looking forward to a new and better era.

538 - Let's see, you accuse me of drinking the kool-aid, yet you have simply repeated what you've heard other Liberals say -- accusations against Bush -- without being able to articulate the argument or the evidence yourself.

You don't have to have legal training to put two logical thoughts together. You made an accusation, yet when pressed to prove your argument you can't do so. Seems to me you spoke without knowing what you were talking about. Not content with that, you repeat more accusations, increasing the distance between your knowledge and your mouth.

You should stop now and leave well enough alone.

5:34...Nothing is more close to the truth. Check out one or a lot of areas of Bridgeport. Yellow, blue, purple houses! Yup, just like old Mehico and getting worse by the day. Check out who is using the LoneStar Cards(to protect their dignity) in their new Yukons and pickups while we drive second hand autos.

5:34 & 9:03 I can't agree more. We are now a corrupt country. We now appoint one who has evaded paying income tax to head the IRS. Our elected leaders refuse to defend our borders and we punish border agents who shoot a drug smuggler in the butt. Tomorrow listen to the oath that Obama takes and tell me that he will uphold our laws. He will lie. Our system is corrupt. The empire will end soon.
