Bad Wreck. Bad Picture.

That big ol' blurb of lights to the right represents a bunch of emergency vehicles responding to a wreck on northbound 287 right before the 730 exit. It looked like a tan pickup had rolled and, although I'm not sure, it looked like there was a sheet over the driver's area. Edit: The Messenger's Update is reporting that it involves the fatality of a Decatur High School female student. Edit #2: Fox 4 has a blurb about it.

DECATUR FATAL WRECK - A female Decatur High School student was killed around 7 a.m. in a wreck on U.S. 81/287 just south of Karl Klement Ford. Decatur Police Chief Rex Hoskins said the student was alone in the vehicle when the accident happened in the northbound lane. The name of the victim is being withheld pending parental notification.

VERY VERY SAD!!!!

Many prayers for the family

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. As I was taking my daughter to school this morning we had to drive right by the wreck. Sadly, you could tell it was a fatality. I was afraid my daughter would have questions, but she didn't say a word then said a sweet prayer after we passed by. Brought tears to my eyes. So very tragic.

I feel so sorry for the family and friends of this child and for law enforcement who had to witness it and then go tell the family.

God be with them all.

That's sad. As a future Funeral Director and Ordained Minister I can assure you that the Lord has made a place next to him for her. God be with the family in their time of sorrow.

My prayers are with that family. I have two very very dear friends, each have lost a child. It breaks my heart!! May God Bless and comfort this family in their time of loss. This is a sad reminder that we never know what the day holds.

How callous and insensitive you are.

3:08, I must have missed the other loss? DHS has lost 2 within a coupld of months? Can you tell us who the other casualty was? Very sad for high school kids to have to deal with such losses at such an early age in life.

Why the hell did she go to Decatur ISD? If she's from Rhome, wouldn't she go to Northwest?

I'm just sayin.

8:19, the other loss was the father of freshman student Brevon Blaylock. Now it's the mother left with 5 children.
And yes it was a bad experience, i know because i'm a freshman and one of Brevon's good friends.. so sad. what was even worse was that Brevon's dad died on Brevon's birthday, december 15

the blalock family

Not that this is even relevent, but to answer 9:30's question is that there are hundreds of kids who live in Rhome and attend Decatur schools. For some reason the New Fairview area is in Decatur ISD, not the Northwest ISD.

More importantly, Chelsea will be missed by many. She was full of life and lived it to the fullest. Good times when you were around her.

As for the WISE guy cracks on here, God gives credit for loving the unloveable, not the loveable. Thats the kinda love that really matters. Get a real life!
From reading this blog, there needs to be more LOVE in this county. Get off your arses and lend a hand when you SEE a need.
We will be accountable for our deeds.
