Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • A recession? A depression? Dallas City Hall just installed a $70,000 television. Yep, a television.
  • Ok, I watched a little bit of the debate, but I can only remember "Joe, The Plumber."
  • Weird: Yesterday I reminisced about having a golf ball dropped onto my windshield while going down the road in Fort Worth. Today: The Star Telegram has a story about rash of those problems lately.
  • Tony Romo is thinking about playing on Saturday? Even Ricky Bobby couldn't drive with a broken arm after an unfortunate bar incident.
  • It's just a weird feeling seeing gas prices drop every time you turn around. I've never seen that before.
  • Somebody told me there were baseball playoffs going on. Go Rangers!!!
  • As I continue my contemplation about the demise of the Unites States, if a state voted to secede (which isn't a bad idea), would the U.S. actually bring in troops to take over the land like in the Civil War?
  • I roll my eyes at the "state's rights" argument over the cause of the Civil War. It's usually uttered by guys that dress up in Union uniforms and go out every chance they get to re-enact some bloody battle. Edit: Yep, should have said Confederate uniforms.
  • I don't know why I'm talking about the Civil War.
  • I normally vote Republican in appellate judicial races for civil courts but Democratic for state appellate edit: criminal courts. (And if I didn't practice law, I'd have no idea what to do.)
  • I need to mow my lawn one more time.
  • If the Cowboys lose two games in a row, I could actually envision Jerry firing Wade Phillips in the middle of the season.
  • For the last two nights I have awakened/awoke/woke up at 3:00 a.m. in the morning on the dot. And I mean exactly at 3:00 a.m. according to my bedside clock.
  • The DOW fell over 700 points last night and it really wasn't even the lead story on most of the newscasts.
  • I promise I heard this from the KLIF talk show host Jeff Bolton this morning, "Obama wouldn't want to debate a guy like me. I'm the kind of guy that wouldn't be interested in making 'debate points' and I'd demand questions to my answers."
  • Coming back from Fort Worth yesterday, it looked like a police state along 287 with all the cars stopped and cops on patrol. I've said it before: Cops are everywhere.
  • Farrah Fawcett was in bad health a couple of years ago. Haven't heard anything about that lately.
  • I thought this was very funny: If you're "old" enough to remember Aha's famous video of "Take On Me", you'll get a kick out of this new "literal version" (wait for the singing to start.)
  • How would you like to be a college senior looking for a job in this market?
  • I like pizza. I deprive myself of pizza.

Don't you just love our government? When a lot of us are having trouble staying afloat, the City, County and State are out writing bs traffic tickets as fast as they can. AND THEY DON'T EVEN SEE THAT THEY ARE A BIG PART OF THE PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH!

Uh, Bar, in my experience those guys citing "State's rights" as the cause of the Civil War are the ones dressing up in Confederate uniforms and re-enacting battles. The ones in the Union uniforms generally tell you the cause was "slavery". Which was - oh yeah - one of those "state's rights" of particular concern to the seceding states.

Is the chick on the left checking to make certain both of her beach balls are still inflated?

OMG!!
Barry's been drinking again!!!
Beginning to see a trend.......

Drove the same way yesterday up 287. Between the 35/287 split up to the Newark exit, there were 9 "law enforcement" units on the road giving out invitations to visit a local municipal establishment. DPS, Sheriff and city were all working together....for the first time on earth's history...... to give tickets instead of working jointly to fight real crime.
Looks like you might get some municipal practice if you want it.......

The blonde looks as if she may have lost her cell phone down there, it's ringing, and she is not sure if she can reach it.
The brunette looks like a fun weekend waiting to happen.
And yeah, it's weird that the drinks match the dresses. I would not have noticed that on my own

"...state's rights" argument over the cause of the Civil War. It's usually uttered by guys that dress up in Union uniforms..."
Well, you're about half-right on that one. The argument over states' rights is usually uttered by guys that dress in CONFEDERATE uniforms, not Union.
The Confederate side says that the states seceded over states' rights. Everybody else says it was over slavery. True, it was over the states' claims that they could allow slavery to continue despite the Federal gov't saying otherwise. Technically, both arguments are correct.

"I need to mow my lawn one more time."
While you got the mower out, how 'bout hitting my yard, chief?

"I like pizza. I deprive myself of pizza."
I like sex. Women deprive me of sex (well, the really good kind, anyway). I accidentally, maybe subliminally, typed in "kink" instead of "kind" in that last sentence. Calling Dr. Freud! Fortunately, I always proofread before sending.
Some things just aren't offered on the menu at Pizza Hut
I'm just sayin'

Wow, suppose the girl on the left dresses that way for church?

Not sure, but it looks like she's wearing a cross in the middle of those whatever they are.

Who is Joe the Plumber? Been surfing the net and seeing a lot of reports that Joe is not registered to vote, also a relative of Charles Keating.

Jeff Bolton would be one disappointed guy... for Obama is not going to answer a question of any sort. He probably is not capable of answering a question with the little that he knows outside of his handler's memorized talking points. I sure hope we do not have to listen to that nut for four years.

Joe the plumber is an unlicensed scab.

Anonymous said...

1:04, he's not required to have a license if he works "For" a plumber, just like a person in Texas doesn't need a real estate license to work for a home builder and sale those homes. And, what makes him a scab? Someone is normally referred to as a "Scab" when they cross a picket line and go to work while the Union workers are striking. Therefore, he's getting a check because he's working and those on strike are making no money and the Union sure as hell isn't going to pay them. Union dues are for coffee, donuts and the "Fat Cat" who says he represents them. The payee of those dues gets squat.

according to MSNBC the county in which Joe the Plumber resides in he is required to have a license. neither Joe or his boss have a license.

Dallas City Hall did not install a "TV". It is installing an information display system that will post and direct visitors to meetings, etc. Not unlike the big boards you would see at an airport, a convention center, etc. In order to have it visible for all the folks with bad eyes, etc. and so that it does not get damaged...it has to go high...and needs to be big because of that, too.

So now the Democrat goal is to discredit the plumber??

How low will Democrats go to win an election? First Sarah Palin's kids, now this regular guy who happened to be there when the Obama exposed his real intentions. They are willing to destroy anyone who they perceive as standing in their way. If the Obama wins, it will be through the efforts of people who were willing to sink low enough to do things like this.

Joe the Plumber is a big fraud. He is not licensed as a plumber in Toledo, is not in the local union as he indicates on his web page, has two liens against him, one of them a tax lien, has no way to "buy" the plumbing business that will cause him to earn over $250,000 that might increase his taxes, voted in the Republican primary even tho his name is spelled incorrectly (VOTING FRAUD!?!?). This poor guy is going to be infamous due to McCain's babbling without accurate information.

Anonymous said...

A "SCAB" is a non-union member. Not just someone who crosses a picket line.

Anonymous said...

Barry, can I see your pipe wrench?

Anonymous said...

What in the world is wordy confused about now? Just because plumber Joe (who may have been a McCain plant) can't comprehend that the business that earns over $250K will only pay taxes on the "profit" not the gross, old wordy finds some Obama conspiracy. Poor wordy, the next 8 years will be torture for him.

And dose anyone wonder why McCain keeps saying Palin knows all about Autism problems? Does he not know Palin's child is Down syndrome - not autistic?

What is wrong with you Democrats. Most plumbers are illegal aliens who you support. Because one is an American citizen, you turn on him.

Yes, I understand that plumbers must be licensed. But one working without a license is nothing compared to a non citizen running for the office of President of the U.S. I believe that Hillery Clinton's friend Phil Berg will win his lawsuit in Pennsylvania challenging Obama's claims of citizenship.

*Joe the Plumber is a divorced father living in a lower-middle class home.
*He is not licensed to be a plumber.
*The business he mentioned employees him and the business' owner. (very unlikely this business's gross revenue is $250k)
*Joe owes the "state of Ohio $1,182.98 in personal income tax, according to Lucas County Court of Common Pleas records."
*The median income for a family in Toledo is $43,553
*He told Diane Sawyer on ABC's Good Morning America this morning that he made "no where near $250,000".

So, what conclusion can be drawn from this exchange that occupied a large portion of last night's debate?

He was either planted to ask Obama a question or he is a white male who is unable to cope with his own personal lack of success and identifies with the Republican party.
Joe, and others, finds the message in the GOP that his lack of success is not really his fault, but that is caused by an unfair advantage given to women, latinos, blacks, illegals, etc. perpetuated by the liberal left wing Democrats.

People are eager to blame someone else. It is part of being human. It is exactly why conservative talk radio is so popular. Their prime audience is white men 30-50 yrs old. Their very conservative message demeans the value of women and minorities and conveys hate filled sentiment toward liberals / Democrats.

Ironically, the Democratically supported tax plan of Obama, would provide him relief in his current tax bracket and thereby ease his financial burden. This relief could potentially allow him to save toward purchasing his own business.

629 - You're an example of what I'm talking about. The plumber is apparently now fair game for you cretins. The media has done more investigation on him than they have on the Obama.

The depths.

"How low will Democrats go to win an election? "........
Can we go to Florida for a vote recount?......

833 - Did the plumber also control Obama's answer?

All of the information about the plumber is immaterial. Whether he misunderstands Obama's tax proposal (very possible) or Obama misunderstood the question (also possible,) Obama's answer was still "We need to spread the wealth around."

Everything else is just diversion. It is unconscionable that the plumber is now being destroyed by Democrats and the media. Shades of Bill Clinton.

Search list of all licensed plumbers in Lucas County, Ohio

You must be listening to MSNBC. Joe The Plumber is a plumber. He works for a licenced plumber and is near the end of his five year apprenticeship. His boss, I believe the name Newell, can be found on the above Ohio web site. Shut up and and get your rabies shot. Oh, you are already sick and it won't work once the Democrat virus has infected the host.

913 - Your response is both more ignorant and more revealing than you imagine.

1) It is more revealing in that it shows what is driving the Democrat bitterness -- anger over a controversy from eight years ago.

2) It shows ignorance because Bush won the election in every recount that Gore asked for, and in every official count that was conducted. More on that dead nag here

Democrats are savaging a guy who innocently got the Obama to reveal his true intentions and philosophy.
