Let Me Find My Checkbook

So I pick up this week's "Best Of" issue of the Fort Worth Weekly since my new goal is to visit as many funky restaurants as I can this year. But as I'm flipping through it, I come across a full page color ad for real estate. Not very interested. But I see the name "Slidell". Our Slidell? In little Wise County? Land in Slidell is going for $4,000 an acre? That place can be mine for $1.2 million?

Someone asked about a picture of the plane crash at the Slidell racetrack. A faithful reader just sent me one in response:

Man, with that new racetrack up there this is a steal of a deal. Think of how many hotels you could fit on 300 acres.. Great Commercial upside to this deal!!

My little 5 acre parcel that I live on was bought in 1995 at $3000/an acre. The Wise County tax district has now appraised it at over $14,000/acre.

The racetrack that is being built is increasing values up there.

Commercial Properties?? Maybe that's where I screwed up!! I started investing my money back in the early 70's, just like my daddy suggested. Now I don't even have a pot to pee in!! He told me to put every dime I had into "lots" and "houses", well I did!! Now after 30 odd yrs. I always thought he said "lotsa" "ho" houses!!

You could put a new K-Bob's on that beauty.

It's probably the only racetrack in the world that had a plane to crash on it before any cars ever crashed on it!!.............. Barry, would you just happen to have a photo of that particular incident??>>>> or should I say accident??

Barry, you could buy it and live among a whole bunch of your yellow-dog democrats! Slidell is eaten up with them.

SSSShhhhhhhh........don't tell 'em about the sucky, stinky, deadly water they'll get when they drill their wells. You know, the water they'll be pumping from the underground aquifers that were destroyed by all that Barnett Shale drilling and frac'ing.

8:45AM - buy an Ozark water delivery franchise - you'll be rolling in the dough again before you know it!

Yeah - YDD's! I love 'em. Go Greenwood. Go YDDs!
