Slow afternoon. I'll be holding my Baylor pennant as I watch A&M and Baylor. It's tied 3-3 in the first quarter, but this will end badly. I've been here before. Many times before.
Halftime Edit: I feel comfortable in saying that I, a 40 something white guy with no athletic ability, could do a better job of quarterbacking Baylor than the spare currently under center. I'm getting gigged. Hard.

Barry, I can't believe you missed the big sign on the city park lot across from Dairy Queen promoting, among other trash entertainers, THE DOG KICKERS! What a fine promo for a civic center event. Is Decatur so bankrupt that it has to put up ads for bottom feeders named DOG KICKERS?

I tried to go to their site, r&r, but it gave me a forbidden access error, if that was the right place. From what I can tell, it might be a band - they've played at Adair's Saloon before, if this is the right thing I'm looking for.
Otherwise, it will be a gathering of "Dog Kickers from Wise County", and we all know there is a lot of 'em out there in that vast wasteland. They are mostly lawyers, political and law enforcement types who gather occasionally to kick dogs out on the LBJ Grasslands, as the meth cookers look on and applaud. It's just another one of those secret Wise County societies , like "The Speeding Fire Marshalls".

The Dogkickers are a band performing at the Sarah's Cure benefit concert on Sat., October 20 at the Decatur Civic Center to raise money for galactosemia research and awareness. They will be performing with Jason Boland, Max Stalling, and J.D. Clark.

Nothing named DOG KICKERS should be publicized! What other illegal activities can we promote via a band title!? The city of Decatur should make them take down that sign!

I want to know why Barry is ignoring the big story about Clay Poynor (Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace) getting preferential treatment from the game warden. He only got a warning for the same offense (at the same location and time) that his hunting buddies received citations for. The game warden even said that it was because of who he was in the county. It's in the Index this week, and Skip's Inside Wise column in the Messenger even praises the Index for getting the story!
