The Ticket just did a segment on Texas High School Mascots. The most common name was "Eagles" with 97 schools sharing that name (Decatur being the local connection). The Panthers (Paradise), Yellowjackets (Boyd), and Bulldogs (Alvord) made the Top Fifteen in occurrences. Heck, one of those three was the second most popular but I've already forgotten which one.
They specifically mentioned that there was only one Bulls mascot (obviously Bridgeport). There was no mention of Dragons.
Now go take on the day.
Edit: The picture has nothing to do with Texas High School but you don't see police using pepper spray very often to break up a post game brawl.

Ahhhh.... I feel so much better now. I can now work without thinking about that. LOL
You don't hear many schools that are called The Battling Earth Worms.
I grew up in Mexico and our mascot was the state bird also. They called us The Buzzing Fly's .
Who could EVER forget the Weatherford Kangaroos?
The mascot for Fordyce, AR is the Redbugs. Everyone that has spent any time in the woods in the south knows that there is nothing more scary than a 'chigger'. They give you itches in places you definitely don't want itches. To me that is more intimidating than a lion, tiger, bear or even a dragon.
How about the Waltzing Piss Ants!
How about the Poolville Monarchs! I would hate to be a butterfly!
My favorite is Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys. The female athletes aren't as bad, they're the Golden Suns.
9:52, The politically correct name is the Chiggroes.
How about the Wise County Weenies?
Don't taze those bros.
To Mzchief: I am a Weatherford Kangaroo and proud of it! I wore the blue so go Roos!
To atticus...
I have MANY friends who are Roo alums and currently have Fighting Roo children. It is AMAZING how once a Roo ALWAYS a Roo is jour du rigour.

Yellowjackets- I bet that's the 2nd most popular.
What on Earth could make you become a Steer on purpose? I'd rather be a Bull!
WOOHOO -- We told you there was ONLY 1 Bridgeport Bulls!
Go Bulls!
I love mascot talk on the Ticket. I thought "Bulls" would be really popular - it was nifty to find out there is only one.
Don't remember pepper spray but I remember a paint ball gun and some cheerleaders.
What, no Sissies talk??
Paintball gun adn cheerleaders? What about the police vehicle that blew out a tire trying to get to the (paintball) shooting incident?
My favorites are the Itasca Whompus Cats and the Winters Blizzards.
What drives me crazy is this "Lady" thing being added before the mascot. If the girls are the "Lady Eagles", why aren't the guys the "Gentleman Eagles?" When you see a big cat at the zoo, do you say, "There's a Lady Tiger?"
And the Sissies thing has got to go. To me a sissy is a timid man or boy considered childish or unassertive
Man, was I ever bummed when the OLD GUARD in bridgeport INSISTED that the girls be called the "Sissies". Am I the only one that sees how STUPID that is? When the boys were the Bullies, then Sissies was a good fit as the "sisters" of the Bullies. Now the Bullies are the Bulls, the girls name doesn't fit, makes the team sound like a bunch of wimps and makes me laugh. All you old guard people in Bridgeport need to GETOVER IT and remember it's not 1952 or whatever anymore...
Hmmmmm...
Perhaps to make the girl's teams for Bridgeport sound tougher they could be called Bullettes rather than "Sissies."

I believe that Round Rock's mascot is a Dragon. Could be wrong though.
Rotan Yellowhammers
Hamlin Pied Pipers
If they consolidated Wise County into one school district my vote is for a Donkey logo on the helmet. That way the nickname could be be the Wise Asses.
