Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois)

The media is in love with this guy. I just don't get it.

It's because he's a colored fella.

He's just another in the long list of black leaders of the Democrat party, following in the footsteps of..uh....umm....

(Say, those Democrats are an anglo bunch, aren't they?)

Why is someone that is half black considered all black? Tiger Woods, Halley Berry......

He will never win with a name that sounds like Osama. Old folks will get confused and nervous.

I f@#$%ing HATE word verification, but first let me go type in this nutty string of words, so I can post.

If you happened to listen to him this morning on Meet The Press, you would know that Barack Obama is popular with the media and many within the Democratic Party because he shows himself to be a well spoken, knowledgable individual who is very pragmatic and realistic in assessing the problems that face this nation at the moment, unlike our present President who seems to have none of those qualities based on his positions on the issues and the the reasons and ways in which he defends them. Some say Obama might not have enough experience just yet to be a viable presidential candidate in two years, but from what I've heard him say, he seems to be much better qualified at this point than our present President was when he assumed office. He certainly has a much better grasp of the reality of our present situation than does Mr. Bush who has become such an ideologe of the religious right that his idealistic view of how he wants the world to be seems to prevent him from facing the reality of what he has brought upon this country. As for Obama being half black, I'm not sure why that should be an issue. I don't remember many conservative Republicans being unhappy when Colin Powell, another man of mixed blood, decided to cast his lot with the Republican Party rather than the Democrats with whom he might very well have won a Presidential bid and become President in either of the last two elections. I would certainly have had to seriously considered him regardless of party affiliation had he have done so.

Who said it was in issue that he is half black? That's how they portray themselves.

Anon 8:22 PM: The only pertinent point you made was that Obama is popular with the media. Verily, whichever Democrat the media doth coronate, shalt be deemed pure, chaste and untouchable for the next news cycle.

As for the rest of your turgid post, "blah, blah, blah Hate Bush, blah, blah, Hate Bush..." and an out-of-place shot at the so-called "religious right" hardly explain why Obama is any better than the rest of the pack.

WordKyle, it's not a matter of hating the man. It's a matter of him being incompetent at doing his job. I have known many individuals who I liked but couldn't get the job done. In the real world, they usually get fired. On a personal level, Bush is very likable, but that is no reason to ignore the many mistakes he and his administration have made repeatedly without any willingness to acknowledge them or attempt to correct them. I could care less whether a Democrat or Republican is President ( I have voted for both )or whether he is mixed blood or lily white, so long as he can be pragmatic and realistic in his decision making, and, if one is to accept what the polls are saying at the moment, two out of three Americans seem to think Bush is out of touch with reality on several issues, not the least of which is Iraq.

wordkyle said...

Anon 10:01 PM: With all respect, I don't believe you. I don't think Bush can do anything to please you, or those who believe as you do.

1) What are the "many" mistakes that you wish him to acknowledge? And have other Presidents done anything similar?

2) How has Bush not been "pragmatic and realistic" in his decision making? How do you define those terms?

3) With the media's anti-Bush drumbeat having gone on for six years, it would be a miracle for any polls to view him favorably. Regrettably, most people believe what they're told to believe by the television networks and the major newspapers.

Bush-bashers have never put the 2000 election behind them, and it taints their every position.

wordkyle please put your head back in the sand you ostrich. Or remove "Rush Limbaughs" arm out of your ass. You talk like a puppet.

My husband is in a union, National Air Traffic Controller Association. He led the team that stripped unions of the right to bargaining on their contract. The government now only has to continue to say no until the time runs out and then they are allowed to implement wny rules that they see fit. You should watch for a huge Air traffic controller backlash and campaign against this guy.

miz.gina said...

Editors note to the above. He led means Obama.

wordkyle said...

miz.gina: The media has already coronated Obama. Don't expect any negative publicity on him. Y'all will have to make your impression at the polls.

I hope no one missed that Obama turned down Oprah's offer for a free ride in her jet. He said that he's tired of representing Washington to his constituents, versus the other way around. [yesterday's DMN]

Hell, the fact that he turned Oprah down and said something so sensible? Bravo!!

Think Frustrated said...

It's because he's going to be president, or VP. You'll see.

In his first book, Dreams of Our Fathers, he talks openly about marijuana use and cocaine use. Didn't Georgie boy admit to coke use, too? Obama just says it was expiremental and not a big deal, but he's very open and doesn't have much to hide.

You'll see.

Hmm. So Wordkyle says he doesn't care how "nice" anyone is in their criticism or disagreement with Bush, or how they couch and express their reasons. The only thing important to Wordkyle is that they do, in fact, express a disagreement of any kind, and for any reason, with Bush .... and that makes them a "Bush basher", who is only PRETENDING to be nice about it. "With all due respect..." he says ... he "doesn't believe" them. If you disagree with Bush, then By God you're a liberal Democrat wuss just MASQUERADING as an honest critic.

Because there can BE no "honest" criticism of Bush, I presume, in Wordkyle's universe.

And what, pray tell, does that say about any criticism Wordkyle may have to offer in his own attacks??

clue patrol said...

miz.gina, good riddance. Unions are outmoded and it is time to put the last nail in their coffin, because they will not do it themselves. They're dragging down almost every industry which they claim to be representing the worker.

At last someone to stand up to unions. Next stop, the autoworkers.

wordkyle said...

Anon 10:28 AM: Someone threw out vague, amorphous, off-topic remarks criticizing Bush. I asked for specifics. Instead, the insults and name-calling started to fly.

An "honest critic" would have some idea of what he disagreed with, and a reason why. Absent that, it's a reasonable conclusion that the person just opposes Bush in general (i.e., a "Bush basher".) All he would have to do to prove me wrong is provide specifics.

I disagree with many of the Bush administration's positions. (Excessive government spending and lack of border security, among others.)

Finally, this all has nothing to do with the media's infatuation with Obama, whose most notable achievement was a speech at the 2004 Democrat convention.

A lot of us just don't like you and your ilk, Wordkyle. Deal with it. Are you Raygun's big brother? Just get back to your crappy book-writing, will ya? I'm sure your publisher has called you numerous times, complaining about the fact that they gave you this great, humongous advance, and you haven't delivered piddly-squat...you are just wasting our time and the Internet's bandwidth on your useless drivel.

Well, Wordkyle, I don't think Lil' Kim would be so pi$$ed off at us if Bush hadn't called him a pygmy. Bush is so sophomoric. He's a puppet. He's going to be listed as the, or one of the, worst presidents in US history. Many in the US are beginning to feel brave enough to express their disdain/concern - even his own cabinet members/confidants, although it's all off the record, because they are afraid of the repercussions. I feel sorry for you, Wordkyle, you blind sheep.

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:21. You make no sense, but then what liberal twat does. Lil Kim is pissed off at you because Bush called him a pygmy? I didn't know she was a he. Why is she pissed off at you? Please go back to watching Oprah for your insight.

wordkyle said...

Wow, someone must have turned on the light, the way the cockroaches are scurrying about.

It's fine that you guys have your unsupported opinions. It's even kinda cute that you're not ashamed to make them so public.

Back on topic, here's an example of Obama being "pragmatic and realistic" regarding his vote against John Roberts as Chief Justice: "...I thought John Roberts was a highly legitimate nominee...he was highly qualified for the job...he was a good nominee on the part of the Bush administration." ("Meet the Press," 10/22/06)

Except partisan politics required that Obama vote against the highly legitimate, highly qualified nominee.

1:44 - Lil' Kim is another easy way to refer to the ruler of North Korea. Sorry you are so stupid you didn't catch my drift. And it IS a big problem that Bushwad called him a pygmy.

Anonymous said...

It's a big problem that Clinton gave him 5 billion in oil and the nuclear technology to build the bomb. Have you seen a nightime satellite view of North and South Korea showing the lights of both countries. North Korea is totally dark. The pygmy is not generating electricity with the technology BJ Clinton gave him. I don't expect you to respond until after 5:00 when Oprah is over.

Anonymous said...

I don't know for sure, but that wordkyle is right about one thing: All you wordkyle bashers have done is call him names and run him down because you think he's a puppet, sheep, etc. However, he has brought up points that the rest of you can't debate, so you just go about calling him names.
You want to engage him in discussions, DO IT! But stop being elementary-age school children with all the name-calling.
And to the person who called him a Rush Limbaugh puppet, you sound just like a Liberal puppet (Clinton, any CNN reporter, etc.) Make an original point, will ya? If you can't debate someone on the points, leave it to them and go swim in the baby pool...

Anonymous said...

The democrats will never let this man become President. Does the name Jesse Jackson ring a bell? I wonder why he had to run as a 3rd party candidate? The democrats talk a good game of being for the black, but when it's time to elevate them, it's a different story.

Anonymous said...

Madonna wants to adopt him.

Clinton had to deal with the mess in North Korea that Poppa Bush started. Clinton advanced diplomacy farther than it had ever been with that country - not that any of you Bush-loving warmongers could appreciate that. And Bush Jr. had the audacity to snub the South Korean leader - a Nobel Prize winner no less. How shameful - Bush is an idiot. Come on repugs, don't rely on Wordkyle for all your information. And 4:00PM, are you talking about the billions for North Korea that Rumsfeld was behind - he was on the board of ABB, the company who won the contracts design/components for the North Korean nuclear reactors, and was a big-time lobbyist for the project. You blind, mindless sheeple never cease to amaze me. Why don't you all walk off a cliff together or something?

Anonymous said...

Clinton really f@#ked up our country and everybody tries to blame W. He's fighting a no win situation trying to stop all the BULLSHIT Clinton created.Clinton didn't get Bin Laden,Clinton sold our nuke secrets,Clinton embarassed the whole country with the cigar thing [OMG if the liberals gripe about the comments on this blog and still defend The Cigar Thing - What's the world coming to] In a nutshell Clinton is a lying sack of Hillary

Anonymous said...

George Bush Sr. started the Korean war in 1950? Wow, you really know your history don't you? They sure are producing alot of electricity with those reactors aren't they? Who was Oprah sucking up to today?

Anonymous said...

Half black is like being half pregnant. It's like saying you screwed a sheep in high school , you're still a sheep screwer today. At least you colored people have cool sayings like "once black you never go back". The reason you don't go back is because you can't . No respecting white girl will have you and you would have to have alot of tequila to get some mexican stuff so you are stuck in the ghetto.

Half-Nigga , Please !

Nope 5:40, Not the 1950's Korean War, you idiot. Among other things, I'm talking about Bush 1 and Bab's tight friendship with Sun Myung Moon back in the early 1990's. Sun was funneling huge amounts of dough to NK, the US was monitoring it, and George and Babs were on his speech circuit being paid "unmentioned" sums of money - calling him things like "the man with the vision." Right about the same time Rummy was sealing the deal for the nuclear reactors thru ABB. Seems real fishy to me. But I know you neocons can't accept the fact that Bushco ever does anything even slightly illegal or immoral.

Anonymous said...

You spew the conspiracy theory just like they do on DailyKos. Did you have to print it out and then type it word for word? You do know that Bush paid off Bin Laden to have terrorists fly planes into the World Trade Center don't you?

Anonymous said...

I think Jana was the catalist

Anonymous said...

Don't cloud the issue, 11:01, you jerk. I'm talking about North Korea, I didn't say anything about conspiracy theories, or 9-11 - you're doing the typical stick-your-head-in-the-sand neocon thing - you just can't take the facts. But as I remind myself, this post was about Obama - he (inexperienced, multicultural, whatever you neocons choose to call him) would be a helluva lot better than Bush, right off the bat.

He didn't try heroin because he didn't like the pusher? Did he turn the scumbag in? No. His record in the Illinois legislature was anti-police. The media loves him because he is better packaged than Hillary, but so are most rattlesnakes.
