I am proud to see the GREAT turn out at the polls in a Non Presidential Election year. This is a good indicator that the Citizens of Wise County are not happy and want change.

The best comment I heard yesterday working the polls was from a gentleman who came in and wanted to speak to the Republican Representative before he voted.

He wanted to know where the Reduction in his School Taxes were as promised .... and he was serious as a heart attack.

Anyone who wonders where their reduction is school property taxes went is just not paying attention, and is just not an informed person. Instead, probably someone that reads too many headlines, listens to too many people at the coffee shop, without reviewing the facts. A reduction in school taxes was never promised. A phased in rate reduction was approved, a reduction that local school districts would have the option of wiping out as they add back tax rate going forward. And everyone ought to know that a lower rate applied to a higher valuation can result in little decrease, no decrease, or even an increase. If you're a homeowner, taxpayer and voter...how in the world were you expecting a big drop in your school taxes? This was all very, very clear to anyone who looked beyond political headlines and snippets. Never hidden. Is there anyone out there that really thought we could pay for schools in Texas by collecting LESS money? No.
