Worlds Collide

Just when I post about the image of the Southern Baptist Convention (below), this story breaks. Call it: When Brokeback Mountian and a hardline Southern Baptist preacher collide. This world is one crazy place. Next thing you'll know they'll be pouring Mimosas with the pre-Sunday School donuts.

OMG some people seem to have "issues".

It makes you appreciate while at the same time feel sorry for those who are truly giving of their lives to the ministry. The idiots always make the headlines.

I'm with condoleesa on this one. Hypocrites abound in organized religion. And recall the gay Republican mayor of Spokane who used to promote anti gay laws when he was in the legislature.

.....yes, I agree with Condi on that one too, but never have met anybody who isn't a hypocrite in some form or fashion, church members or not.

....nothing new there.

..and as for gays, I don't have any problem with them either, if they would just go on down the road, do their thing and shut up about it..

Everyone thinks everyone else's sin is worse than their own!

anon 8:11 So you calling God a biggot?

"Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." LOL I'll have to remember that one...

Can't believe the hypocrisy would be a surprise...the guy was advocating befriending the gays, for ministering/reprogramming purposes. Um, think he might've had an ulterior motive??

Usually, it's the ones pointing their fingers the most often who end up having their hands in the very cookie jar they're barking about.

I'm not the least bit "OMG"'ing over this article. I'm the parishioner who always wonders just what it is I don't know about my own pastor....

And, like 7:50 & 10:24 said, we've all got our little unmentionables...

Now I know what Jesus went through! He was never popular with the church crowd.crowd meaning the ones who thought they knew God.the ones who went to church so they could be counted as present. I am a disciple of Christ. Jesus only did and said what He saw His father in heaven do. Jesus (God) Said in Romans chapter 1 everything you will need to know about being gay. You can say all you want about me, I never said anything.

I only repeat what my Father has written. If you have a problem take it up with Him.

We are to love the sinner but hate the sin. I judge no one matthew chapter 7 says if you judge, you will be judge in the same manner. Not by God but by people.

God put all His wrath and anger on His Son Jesus. He is not mad at anyone. He wants everyone to accept what Jesus did at the cross. Become born again and have a relationship with Jesus, if we will do that sin will have no place in our lives.

You do not need to tell a gay person, or a sinner that they are in sin they know that. We need to Love everyone!

If you have high speed internet, I invite you to attend our church services and see what the majority of Christian gays are really like. You can access it at cathedralofhope.com

Anon @ 7:50, I think God created us ALL and I will pray for you.

Why is it that the moment anything is mentioned about church, whether in a positive or negative light, so many immediately hop on the hypocrite bandwagon? A church is a group, made up of normal human beings who sin, make mistakes, mess up. This pastor messed up BIG...that's very evident, however, that is between him and God. He, and especially his congregation, need prayer, not judgment.

The reason why everyone jumps on anything negative that is said about church or it's members is that those people feel, in some way, threatened by "church people" from guilt from something they have done or not done. Plus it is very scandalous and people unfortunately LOVE scandel. God didn't make anyone except Jesus perfect, so just live your life the way God wants you to so that you may witness to others by your actions and not just your words. If you don't use actions to back up your words, Satan will use those words, unfortuanely, to discredit all Christians. That's why he's Satan.

God did create all of us but when you become a christian you receive His Spirit. You become a new creation II cor 5:17. No no longer have that old sin nature, that does not mean that we never sin anymore because we do everyone does. Whatit does mean is that we no longer have that nature, when we do sin we are quick to repent. The problem is for example gays it is a sin to live in that life style it becomes wrong when you know its not right and you do it anyway daily ( sin becomes a life style) that's when you are in trouble. You can say whatever you want but its a life style that God will not put up with.

John said if we go on sinning when we know not to we must not have the Spirit of God in us!
