A Follow-Up To The Death Of The Pastor During Baptism

The Star-Telegram has an article echoing my thoughts from a couple of days ago. "WACO — There are times in this old world when life makes no sense at all. Ask a young widow, left to raise a daughter, 5, and twin 3-year-old sons." (Rest of it) And let me disclose this: I posted the previous article on the same day that the tragedy occurred. Within 24 hours I learned that my brother and his entire family were in attendance in the congregation in Waco and witnessed the entire event. I cannot even imagine what it was like.

Reading the Star Telegram articles on this tragic accident, the young pastor used the microphone during the ordinance of Baptism on a regular basis.

He was not the first pastor to die this way. It happened in 1993.

No alarm bells sounded...danger, danger, danger. Why? Perhaps it was routine.

No one thought what would happened if he dropped the mike into the water or if the microphone developed a short in the circuit.

City code inspectors and the Waco police are investigating the accident.

For all who were there for Baylor's homecomeing, it was a tragic event to watch.

Terrible tragedy. Sorry that your brother and his family had to witness this. My prayers are with the pastor's family.

Having lived through personal loss of a tragic nature, it brings forth lots of sensitivity toward those who go through something similar. Very difficult time for this young family and their church family.

So sad.
